Painted Seasons - quick & simple

Here are the details for the first project this week using a stamp set called Painted Seasons.

This is one of those cards that came about as the result of a project that went wrong!  You know one of those that seem like a good idea (in your head) but don't work out in practise?

The strip of DSP I used was the first part of my accident - a 1cm score line along one edge.  Rather than waste it I glued down the edge to reveal the other side.

The second accident was the sentiment on the bottom of the card, from a stamp set called Botanical Bliss.  At some point, I must have stamped this panel for a project and then forgot about it!

Not wanting to waste it, I adhered the strip of DSP above to create a background for my project.  (I could have course covered the sentiment with the DSP strip too).

I love the detail on these gorgeous flowers - so dimensional.

I asked a question on my facebook page as to whether I should add the Early Espresso centre to the flowers.

The answer came back as a resounding YES so I added the centres!

I used Early Espresso ink and stamped partial flowers onto scrap card then fussy cut them out.

It had been my intention to just add the flower and the leaf to the card front but it did not look quite right.

Top Tip
I have four packets in one of my drawers; each one containing die cut shapes.  Most of them are my favourite Stitched Shape ones (circles, ovals, squares and rectangles).

I find that I often reach for one and it is useful having some handy.

In this instance one of the circles was the perfect base for my flower.

I stamped a single flower on the inside of the card.

As I am looking at the photo above I am wondering why I did not add a centre to the flower ... I will put it on my list of things to do!
