Boughs of Holly Suite - Stamping With Friends Blog Hop

Hello, and welcome to my first ever time hopping with Stamping With Friends!  Our theme this month is our favourite Suite/Bundle from the July to December Mini Catalogue - I will be using the Boughs of Holly Suite for my project today.

If you have a look at page 24 of the above catalogue you will see these lovely project samples, I like them all but, the top let one - I love, it was what made me by this suite!

Here is my project:
So I decided to recreate it for my hop project!  I did change the design slightly, adhering the leaves the other way around, in other words, a CASE (Copy And Selectively Edit).

You will need:
21 cm x 14.5 cm Cherry Cobbler - scored at 10.5 cm
14.5 cm x 10.5 cm Designer Series Paper (DSP)
1cm strips of DSP
7.5 cm x 11.5 cm Basic White Thick (BWT)
5.5 cm x 2 cm Crumb Cake
14 cm x 10 cm Basic White (insert)
Small pieces of Mossy Meadow, Cherry Cobbler, Real Red and a green (ish) DSP

The background:
I used used Sahara Sand ink to randomly stamp the holly leaves on the BWT panel.

The sprigs, leaves and berries:
I used some of the lovely mottled green DSP to die cut the top sections of the two leaves and Mossy Meadow card to cut the bases.  I used tiny dabs of Tombow to adhere them together.

I used one of the Textural Elements that are also part of this suite.  I love the natural wood effect these have but I wanted to 'bling' them up a little so, I gently pressed one of them into a Versamark ink pad.  I then sprinkled gold embossing powder over the top and heat set.

I die cut the base layer of the berries from Cherry Cobbler card and the top layer from Real Red.  I then adhered using Tombow.

To assemble:
Adhere the DSP to the card front using Tombow.  I then used one of the Wonderful Snowflakes cut it in half and adhered a piece to two opposite corners again with Tombow.  I was so pleased to discover these pretty, iridescent  snowflakes are with us for another year!

I then adhered the stamped panel using dimensionals.

The leaves, the sprig and the berries have been adhered using a combination of Tombow and dimensionals.

The sentiment:
The sentiment has been stamped onto a piece of Crumb Cake card using Soft Suede ink and adhered with dimensionals.

The ribbon:
As a finishing touch, I create a little ribbon.  I cut the woven ribbon in half and added some colour along one edge with the Mossy Meadow Light Stampin' Blend pen.  I don't know how the clever folk at SU managed to tie their ribbon without the ends fraying because I couldn't and I tried several times!  However, I like shabby chic so I adhered my bow with a rolled up glue dot.

Top tip:
If you use the bullet tip of the blend pen you will find it much easier and neater - ask me how I know!

The inside:
I stamped a row of leaves along the bottom edge  and the top right of the insert using Sahara Sand ink.  I then adhered a strip of DSP on top using Tombow.

The envelope:
I created a border (as above) using the holly leaf and a strip of DSP.

The completed project:
I will be making more of these cards in the run up to Christmas - I wonder if I will ever manage to tie a neat and tidy bow?
