Stampin' Up! Climbing Orchid - stepped up

Hello, here are the details of our second project this week using a stamp set called Climbing Orchid.

Lots of stamping and die cutting to create a large and a small orchid for this card.  The petals have been curled and shaped in the same way as our first project for this week and layered up with Stampin' Dimensionals.

My favourite part of this particular card is the way that the Seasonal Layers Thinlits die lines up perfectly with the flower buds ... some things are just meant to be aren't they?

#stampinupuk, Craftyduckydoodah!, Orchid Builder, May 2018 Coffee & Cards Project, Supplies available 24/7 from my online store, Stampin' Up! UK Independent Demonstrator Susan Simpson, #lovemyjob,

We used one of the left over pieces of Wood Testures DSP to decorate the inside of our cards.

So many lovely variations of this stepped up project have been made this week.  Isn't it amazing how just a simple change to the background can make such a difference?

This week we were joined by Ricki and Donna for the first time - welcome ladies, I hope you had fun!  Here are a few of the cards made this afternoon - all of them stunning, all that stamping and die cutting was worth the effort!

I was able to join my crafty ladies at the Care Home today too, they made a version of this card today; I did lots of prep, stamping and die cutting the flowers for them.  They like to assemble things and everyone was impressed with their finished cards.

Thanks to everyone who joined me this week for a crafty coffee.  Details of the proejcts for next week will be available soon - we will be making cards for men next week - a special request from Sarah!

Stampin' Up! Climbing Orchid - quick & simple

Hello, we had lots of fun yesterday 'building' orchids with the fabulous Climbing Orchid bundle.

I have really missed my Monday morning coffee and cards sessions, what with the Bank Holiday and moving house I have missed two weeks now!

We used one of my favourite embossing folders, Layered Leaves to create a backgroung panel.

#lovemyjob, #stampinupik, Climbing Orchid, Craftyduckydoodah!, May 2018 Coffee & Cards Project, Stampin' Up! UK Independent Demonstrator Susan Simpson, Supplies available 24/7 from my online store,

For a change, we also used the same folder to partially emboss the envelope.

#lovemyjob, Craftyduckydoodah!, Climbing Orchid, May 2018 Coffee & Cards Project, #stampinupik, Stampin' Up! UK Independent Demonstrator Susan Simpson, Supplies available 24/7 from my online store,

We stamped all the different components for the orchid in Berry Burst ink and cut them out with the coordinating Framelits.  The petals were shaped and curled before all the layers were assembled using Stampin' Dimensionals.

#lovemyjob, Craftyduckydoodah!, Climbing Orchid, May 2018 Coffee & Cards Project, #stampinupik, Stampin' Up! UK Independent Demonstrator Susan Simpson, Supplies available 24/7 from my online store,

Although there are several stamps in this set that allow you to create stems and branches, I used a Thinlit from Seasonal Layers.

Here is the completed card and envelope.  We were chatting yesterday about sentiments - we decided that the one on this card is very useful for all sorts of occassions!

#lovemyjob, Craftyduckydoodah!, Climbing Orchid, May 2018 Coffee & Cards Project, #stampinupik, Stampin' Up! UK Independent Demonstrator Susan Simpson, Supplies available 24/7 from my online store,

Stampin' Up! Sea of Textures SBTD 05-18

Hello and welcome to another Stampers by the Dozen Blog Hop.  This month our theme is Mothers Day or Fathers Day, chosen by Sharleen.

As Mothers Day is long since passed in the UK - I thought I would go with the masculine option.  Cards for the males in our life can be tricky can't they?

I decided to use one of the brand new upcoming stamp sets (available 1st June) called Sea of Textures for my project.

I knew I needed this stamp set as soon as I saw it at On Stage in April - I just had to have it especially when I discovered the Framelits that coordinate with the stamps ...

#lovemyjob, Craftyduckydoodah!, Sea of Textures, Tranquil Textures, SBTD Blog Hop, Stampin' Up! UK Independent Demonstrator Susan Simpson, Supplies available 24/7 from my online store, #stampinupuk,

I have been so busy recently; packing up and moving house has taken all my energy and I have had no time for crafting.  I have just managed to finish this project and write this post less than 12 hours before the hop - talk about last minute!

I recently saw a project made by Kim McGillis who is a member of the Stampin' Artisan Design Team.  I loved it so much I thought I would recreate a version of her project to share with you, with the odd tweak along the way.

I decided I would add lots of texture and dimension to my project - que the Stampin' Dimensionals!

I used the stamps in Sea of Textures to create a background panel.  Stamping on a strip of Whisper White with Early Espresso and Sahara Sand - some of the images were second generation.

#lovemyjob, Craftyduckydoodah!, Sea of Textures, Tranquil Textures, SBTD Blog Hop, Stampin' Up! UK Independent Demonstrator Susan Simpson, Supplies available 24/7 from my online store, #stampinupuk,

I also used the Seaside TIEF with a strip of Soft Sea Foam cardstock - a new colour, avialable from 1st June - love it!  I also used a panel of Wood Textures DSP, I tore the edges and curled them upwards to add even more dimension.  I am so pleased this lovey DSP will be with us for another year.

#lovemyjob, Craftyduckydoodah!, Sea of Textures, Tranquil Textures, SBTD Blog Hop, Stampin' Up! UK Independent Demonstrator Susan Simpson, Supplies available 24/7 from my online store, #stampinupuk,

Lots layers (and Dimensionals) to add texture and depth to this project.

Top Tip

When using the Tranquil Textures Sprinkles (available 1st June), this multitude of tiny beads proved tricky to stick into place until I used the Fine-Tip Glue, blobbed (technical term) in a little puddle to adhere them.

#lovemyjob, Craftyduckydoodah!, Sea of Textures, Tranquil Textures, SBTD Blog Hop, Stampin' Up! UK Independent Demonstrator Susan Simpson, Supplies available 24/7 from my online store, #stampinupuk,

Did you spot the framelit above with the shoal of fishes?  This is my favourite die in the whole set - even more than the octopus!

#lovemyjob, Craftyduckydoodah!, Sea of Textures, Tranquil Textures, SBTD Blog Hop, Stampin' Up! UK Independent Demonstrator Susan Simpson, Supplies available 24/7 from my online store, #stampinupuk,

Of course I kept the tiny fishes - I just need to use them on another project ...

The inside of the card and the envelope were stamped to coordinate too.

#lovemyjob, Craftyduckydoodah!, Sea of Textures, Tranquil Textures, SBTD Blog Hop, Stampin' Up! UK Independent Demonstrator Susan Simpson, Supplies available 24/7 from my online store, #stampinupuk,

Here is the completed card and envelope.

#lovemyjob, Craftyduckydoodah!, Sea of Textures, Tranquil Textures, SBTD Blog Hop, Stampin' Up! UK Independent Demonstrator Susan Simpson, Supplies available 24/7 from my online store, #stampinupuk,

The stamps and framelits I used are part of a brand new suite called Tranquil Textures that will be available from the 1st of June - I have so many ideas for projects using this suite so I am planning a workshop soon!

I had a spare 10 minutes so I made a little video to show off the project.

Thanks for hopping along with us again, next up is Tricia.  Don't forget to leave a comment below (we like that).  If you get lost along the way you can find a list of all participants in the hop below along with details of the products I used for this project.

Thanks again to Kim for providing the inspiration for this rather hurried post.  It was only when I was doing a final check of my post that I realised I had forgotten to use a suitable sentiment for Fathers Day - I hope you will forgive me, this would make a fabulous card for any man, regardless of the sentiment!

Back to the unpacking and sorting out my craft room for me ...

Susan xx
