Stampin' Up! Pretty Pines - SBTD 12/2017

Hello and welcome to the last Stampers by the Dozen blog hop for 2017!  If this is your first stop on the hop, welcome and thanks for joining us.  If you have hopped over from Judi, thanks for hopping along with us!

Our theme this month is 'from the heart' - a card or project that celebrates love.

I have to admit I struggled this month, mainly through a lack of time and it being a particular time of year has not helped at all!

However, on Wednesday morning I had a flash of inspiration after speaking to my best friend Lesley.  We have been friends for over 30 years and even though we now live almost 200 miles apart we remain firm friends.

Lesley and her husband are having the most amazing house built - it should have been ready by now but its not :(  They have sold their family home of 36 years and moved into rented accommodation for a few months until the new house is ready.

Whilst chatting Lesley mentioned that all her Christmas decorations had been put into storage by mistake and they were not able to access them.  So, I decided to rustle up a little something just for her ...

I bought a heart shaped wicker wreath several weeks ago thinking I would do something with it at some point.

I found some wire in my crafty stash and wrapped it around the wreath threading on some beads as I went before adding some 'snow'.  I also removed the scratty white ribbon!

Stampin' Up! UK Independent Demonstrator Susan Simpson, Craftyduckydoodah!, SBTD Blog Hop, Pretty Pines, Supplies available 24/7 from my online store,

I decided I would keep it simple and use some die cuts and, shock, horror; no stamping!

I wrapped a string of battery operated lights around the wreath - these can be picked up easily at this time of the year.

I had some pieces left over from a recent craft session so I only needed to cut a few extra pieces with the Pretty Pines Thinlits Dies.

I used several pine cones in silver metal foil and a pile of pine needles in Pool Party.  The base of the pine cones was also cut with Pool Party.

Top Tip

To assemble my clusters I used a Silicone Craft Sheet and Mini Glue dots so that I could arrange my pieces first.

Stampin' Up! UK Independent Demonstrator Susan Simpson, Craftyduckydoodah!, SBTD Blog Hop, Pretty Pines, Supplies available 24/7 from my online store,

I added the first pine cone with a glue dot and the second with a Stampin' Dimensional.

Once I had all my pieces assembled I was able to lift them (carefully) and stick them onto the wreath.

Stampin' Up! UK Independent Demonstrator Susan Simpson, Craftyduckydoodah!, SBTD Blog Hop, Pretty Pines, Supplies available 24/7 from my online store,

I added a ribbon loop so that the wreath can be hung.

Stampin' Up! UK Independent Demonstrator Susan Simpson, Craftyduckydoodah!, SBTD Blog Hop, Pretty Pines, Supplies available 24/7 from my online store,

I also added some die cut mistletoe, decorated with lots of jewels for some Christmas sparkle!

Here is the finished wreath.

I had to wait to take the next photo until evening - how pretty does it look with the lights on?

Stampin' Up! UK Independent Demonstrator Susan Simpson, Craftyduckydoodah!, SBTD Blog Hop, Pretty Pines, Supplies available 24/7 from my online store,

Isn't it amazing what the addition of a few simple embellishments can make?

We will be travelling up to Leeds to meet up with Lesley just before Christmas - I am not willing to risk posting this so I will take it with me then.

Thanks for looking at my blog today and joining our last hop for 2017 - don't forget to leave a comment below and on other blogs as you hop around!  We will be back in the New Year with some more inspiration.

Next on the hop is Tricia who I'm sure has something fabulous to share with you too.

Details of the products I used for this project can be found at the end of this post.

Wishing you all a Happy Christmas and a crafty 2018!

Stampin' Up! Petal Palette - stepped up

Hello, here are the details for our final C & C project this week using Petal Palette.

My crafty ladies have really enjoyed a change from Christmas projects - the little bird was a great hit!

We also used another new product, the narrow note cards and envelopes.  These are tucked away on page 19 of the Spring / Summer Catalogue and could quite easily be overlooked.

They make a lovely change from standard sized cards -perfect for a quick note when you don't want to write War and Peace on the inside!

We used a sponge brayer and some Pool Party ink to create some shading on the left hand side of the envelope before stamping one of the images in the stamp set using Old Olive.  We decorated the inside of the card in the same way.

Stampin' Up! UK Independent Demonstrator Susan Simpson, Craftyduckydoodah!, Petal Palette, December 2017 Coffee & Cards Project, Supplies available 24/7 from my online store,

The front of the card has been covered with a piece of DSP.

We used the Stampin' Blends to colour the floral spray - the artsy stamped image is perfect for a spot of colouring before mounting on one of my favourite Stitched Shape Framelits.

I am pleased to say that the narrow note cards were a big hit too - they will be back soon!

Thanks to everyone who joined me this week for a crafty coffee.  Next week I have been asked if we can make a beaded icicle - so, we will be!

There will be a card too - I will post details over the weekend as I haven't decided what we will be doing yet!

I will be making a start on my Christmas wrapping this weekend - love buying presents, hate wrapping!

I am taking part in the last Stampers by the Dozen blog hop for 2017 on Saturday - I have a lovely project to share with you that was very quick to put together and looks quite impressive (even if I do say so myself)!

Hope you have a crafty weekend.

Stampin' Up! Hearts Come Home colour changing card!

Hello, following on from the Joy of Sets blog hop earlier this week, here is the second project I made using Hearts Come Home.

I always make 'special' cards for my children; my daughter Rosie particularly likes cards with lots of dimension.

I've been making 'bridge fold' cards for several years and decided to see if I could make one work using Hearts Come Home.   I had a quick look on Pinterest and saw a brilliant card made by the Amanda Bates (The Craft Spa) and off I went, tweaking along the way!

My Pool Party card base has been stamped all over using a background from Pretty Pines to create a snowy backdrop using white Craft Ink.

I cut three panels of various sizes.  The one at the back is adhered to the card base.  The middle panel has a 1 cm tab at each side and the final layer is placed right across the front.

Stampin' Up! UK Independent Demonstrator Susan Simpson, Craftyduckydoodah!, Joy of Sets Christmas Blog Hop 2017, Hearts Come Home, Supplies available 24/7,

There is space on the reverse of the card to write your message - it has been decorated using the background snowflakes from Pretty Pines.

Stampin' Up! UK Independent Demonstrator Susan Simpson, Craftyduckydoodah!, Hearts Come Home, Supplies available 24/7 from my online store,

I used the Fine Tip Glue Pen and some Dazzling Diamonds Glitter to add some sparkle.  If you place the nozzle on the cardstock (don't squeeze the bottle), and 'scribble' across the card and then add the glitter you get a natural looking snowline.  I also added some tiny dots of glue to some of the snowflakes.

Stampin' Up! UK Independent Demonstrator Susan Simpson, Craftyduckydoodah!, Joy of Sets Christmas Blog Hop 2017, Hearts Come Home, Supplies available 24/7,

The die cut trees are made using dies from the Card Front Builder Thinlits.  The tiny deer peeking out from the trees is from the same set and has been cut out with silver foil.

I played around with the measurements so that my card would fold flat and fit into a C6 envelope.

Here is the completed card and envelope.

Stampin' Up! UK Independent Demonstrator Susan Simpson, Craftyduckydoodah!, Hearts Come Home, Supplies available 24/7 from my online store,

If you are careful, you can place a colour changing tea light behind the front panel - very tricky to photograph!

Stampin' Up! UK Independent Demonstrator Susan Simpson, Craftyduckydoodah!, Hearts Come Home, Supplies available 24/7 from my online store,

I made a red version for my daughter as it is her favourite colour, I hope she likes it.

Stampin' Up! UK Independent Demonstrator Susan Simpson, Craftyduckydoodah!, Hearts Come Home, Supplies available 24/7 from my online store,

This card was one of the projects at a recent Workshop.  I was joined by a brand new crafter called Emma.

Emma choose to use the Stampin' Blends to colour the trees on her card - doesn't it look pretty?

Stampin' Up! UK Independent Demonstrator Susan Simpson, Craftyduckydoodah!, Hearts Come Home, Supplies available 24/7 from my online store,

These cards always look impressive but, once you understand the mechanism they are quick and easy to put together.  Why not have a look on Pinterest for some inspiration?

I am so pleased that this stamp set and the Hearts Come Home Edgelits dies will be returning next year - I have loved using them.  However, they will not be available as a bundle after the end of the year so if you would like them don't hesitate and take advantage of the 10% saving that comes with the purchase of a bundle.

I hope you have enjoyed this project, I would love you to leave a comment below.

Hope you have a crafty weekend.

Susan xx
