Stampin' Up! Daisy Delight - Happy 80th Birthday!

Hello, one of my lovely crafty ladies was celebrating her 80th birthday this weekend and I was lucky enough to be invited to her party.

Of course I had to make a special card for such a special lady!

I have been wanting to have a go at making a Double Z Fold Card for some time so I did a quick search on Pinterest and found a simple tutorial.  If you ever need to know how to make a particular style of card, Pinterest is brilliant!

I decided to use some of the gorgeous Delightful Daisy DSP as a background.  I chose the ink colours from the details on the back of the packet ...

I made the base from Night of Navy and Whisper White cardstock.  I decorated a panel for the front of the card using the stamps from Daisy Delight - there are some really useful background builder stamps in this set that are easy to overlook because the large daisy stamp (and the punch) are amazing!  After stamping the stems there are little stamps that line up perfectly so that you can stamp the flower heads - SU are brilliant at this sort of thing!

Once I had got my head around the mechanism of the card it was easy, looking down at the card you can see where its name came from!

I also stamped two smaller panels to decorate the folding mechanism and then I decided to stamp another panel and use it to die cut an eight and a zero.  I stuck them to the panels using the new Mini Stampin' Dimensionals.  Have you seen them yet?  They are much smaller than the usual Dimensionals and just the right size for this project.

I then realised that I had nowhere to write my message - so I quickly stamped another panel for the reverse of the card.

We had a lovely time at the party, I was amazed to find that so many of the guests had crafting in common.

When we arrived we were asked to make a fingerprint leaf on a tree that had been drawn by Poppy as a memento for Jean.

I have to say it is such a lovely idea and I was very pleased to add my leaf in Pistachio Pudding ink - I loved that colour and was so sad when it retired!

I know that Jean will have opened her cards by now even though it is not her birthday until tomorrow!

Hope you enjoy the rest of your birthday weekend Jean, here's to many more years of crafting!

Susan xx
