Fable Friends - Stamp 'N Hop - Easter

Hello and welcome to another Stamp 'N' Hop blog hop.  We are a group of Demonstrators from around the world who love to share our love of paper crafting.  My name is Susan aka Craftyduckydoodah! - I live in beautiful Godmanchester which is near Cambridge in the UK.  If you are joining me from Pia, welcome or, if you are starting the hop with me welcome too- I hope you find lots of inspiration as you hop around with us.

This month our theme is Easter and, more importantly getting ready early!  If I manage it this year it will definitely be a first for me!

I knew I wanted my project to contain Easter treats but I though it might be wise to see what was actually available in the shops before came up with a project.  A quick trip around the supermarket and I came home with lots of goodies.

I decided to use a stamp set called Fable Friends - there are some really cute images in this set and this is the first time I have used it.

The images remind me of bedtime stories with my children and the duck with the duckings made this particular stamp set a must have for me!

My project started with the Cellophane Bags that can be found on page 193 of the Annual Catalogue.  Not the most exciting items I'll admit but I use them a lot.  The bags are 5.1cm wide and perfect for all sorts of treats and favours.

Making the Topper
I started my project with a piece of thick Whisper White card that measured
5.1 cm x 19 cm and then I scored it at 9 cm.

I used Memento ink to stamp the duck image and used the rather useful little grass stamp to create a bit of a background for the duck to stand on.

Next came the fun part - I love colouring with the Stampin' Blends.  I have listed the colours I used below but of course you can use any colours that you like.

I used the Light Old Olive Stampin' Blend to sweep across the bottom of the topper and then used the Dark pens to add detail to the grass.

I used the Pumpkin Pie Stampin' Blend for the beak and the feet and Daffodil Delight on the inner beak.

I used the Light Smoky Slate Blend to add some splodges of colour to the areas on the body.

I used the Colour Lifter pen to 'squiggle' over the grey ink to blend and soften the Smoky Slate to add some definition and dimension.

I had a slight mishap with the beak on one of my toppers - the Pumpkin Pie bled a little.

Top Tip
Did you know you can use the Colour Lifter to 'push' or remove ink?  Well you can!  Using small flicking strokes, 'push' the Pumpkin Pie back to where you want it.

The Colour Lifter dilutes the ink - all I had to do with this image was to carefully add a little more Pumpkin Pie and it was rescued!

I filled the cellophane bag with some chocolate eggs and then used a stapler to attached the topper.

I also made some toppers in different colours.

I then decided that the topper looked a little bare - fortunately there are some lovely sentiments with Fable Friends.

Here are all the toppers I made (more in the pipeline).  The more observant of you might notice that there is only one treat filled with chocolate eggs ... I call it quality control!!

Next up is Tracy Marie from the USA - I can't wait to see what she has to share with us.

Details of the the items I used for this project can be found below along with a list of hop participants in case you get lost along the way.

Happy hopping!
