Stampin' Up! Sea of Textures - SBTD 06/18

Hello and welcome to another Stampers by the Dozen blog hop!

This month our theme is Cards/gifts for children and was chosen for us by Vicky who unfortunately is no longer able to hop with us.  Thanks for sharing all your wonderful projects with us Vicky, we will miss you!

If you have hopped over from Judi welcome and thanks for joining us along the hop - don't forget to leave us comments (we like that)!

This project is for a young lady I know who asked me to make something special for her to give to her teacher at the end of the school year.  She (the teacher) is taking a special trip over the summer for what I am sure will be a fabulous adventure - she is taking part in a marine conservation project, how exciting is that?

Obviously, I had to use Sea of Textures didn't I?

I thought a little box full of 3 x 3 little notecards would fit the bill.

I started with a Mini Pizza Box ...

... one Sponge Brayer and some of Soft Sea Foam ink later ...

Top Tip

It is much easier to colour the pizza boxes if you don't assemble them first!!

I used some of the DSP in this product suite to create a 'belly band' - if anyone knows a nicer name for this please let me know.

My favourite Stitched Shape Framelits provided a base for my eight legged friend to sit on.  Can you see the Crumb Cake net on the left of the image?  This is one of the dies in the Under The Sea Framelits; how fabulous is that!

Here is the box with the band in place.

I used some Soft Sea Foam card stock to create four 3 x 3 cards and set about decorating them.

I started off simple - the tiny sand dollar is suspended on some linen thread, minimal stamping and a tiny die cut in Bashful Blue (one of the newly launched colours).

I also used some of the sprinkles that are part of this suite (I used the FIne Tip Glue to adhere them).

For my second card I added some background stamping using the net image.

I also added some tiny die cut fish - so tiny and so cute but, they are quite fiddly!

Here is the second card.

By the time I got to my third card I was really enjoyng myself - there are so many possibilities with this stamp set.

This card has more layered stamping to create the background in two different colours, some die cut shapes and, one tiny little fish.

My fourth card - well what can I say, I love it!

Lots of stamping to create the background, this time using three different colours.  The fish scale image, stamped here in Crumb Cake, will be useful for lots of other projects too.

Each of the cards has a matching envelope and I also added some stamped, smaller squares of white card to the inside so that everything coordinates.

I had so much fun with the many images in this set.  They make it so easy to layer up to create fantastic backgrounds in no time at all.  So many ideas, so little time!

Here is a final look at the full ensemble.

I am still unpacking boxes after my recent house move, I am missing all sorts of things.  One thing I can't find is a little tin I have full of googly eyes.  The octpus in this set is just crying out for some wobbly eyes ..... hopefully they will turn up soon.  I am sure you can imagine how cute he would look!

The Sea of Textures stamp set and the Under the Sea Framelits are available as a bundle with a 10% saving through my online store.

My friends daughter was thrilled when I showed her what I had made - hope the teacher likes it too!

Thanks for hopping along with us again, next up is Tricia.  Don't forget to leave a comment below (we like that).  If you get lost along the way you can find a list of all participants in the hop below along with details of the products I used for this project.
