Hello Beautiful - Craft Collaborations

Hello and welcome to the latest Crafty Collaborations Blog Hop.  I will be using the Hello Beautiful bundle for my project which is part of the Abstract Beauty Suite.

Craftyduckydoodah, Stampin Up, Abstract Beauty Suite, Hello Beautiful, Crafty Collaborations Blog Hop,

If you are starting our hop here with me or you have hopped over from The Crafty Medic - welcome, this month we are sharing projects made with new items from the January - June Mini Catalogue.  Grab a cuppa and hop around with us - make sure you have your wish lists at the ready!

I confess, I almost missed this blog hop - so busy at work and I needed a project in a hurry.  Does this happen to you too?

Fortunately for me I knew where to turn for inspiration - pages 48 - 50 of the new catalogue and the Abstract Beauty Suite of products!

Craftyduckydoodah, Stampin Up, Abstract Beauty Suite, Hello Beautiful, Crafty Collaborations Blog Hop,
I was lucky enough to be able to pre order the items in the Suite - its one of many perks of being a demonstrator.  I was drawn to the bold colours and gold foiling - I guess I am a crafty magpie!

The abstract images are designed to be stamped in groups, collaged or repeat stamped to create patterns and designs.  The surface of the images in Hello Beautiful have a light texture that creates a water coloured look - how clever is that?  Top the set off with some lovely sentiments in a mix of fonts and a selection of little 'filler' images to add even more detail to your projects and now you will begin to see why I just had to have this suite!

Being very short on time I decided to CASE (copy and selectively edit) the project at the top of the photo.

Here is my project:

I changed the orientation of my project but everything else is pretty much the same as the sample from the catalogue.  This is a perfect card for a beginner I think.

The colours I used:

Apart from the colours show on the Designer Series Paper (DSP), I only used two colours of ink.

You will need:

21 cm x 14.5 cm Basic White Thick (BWT) - scored at 10.5 cm

10 cm x 14 cm Designer Series Paper (DSP)

10.5 cm x 1.5 cm Just Jade

BWT for die cutting

Scraps of DSP for die cutting

The die cutting:

I used a piece of BWT to cut the largest hexagon.  I then choose two different pieces of DSP to cut out the smaller hexagons.

The stamping:

I used Just Jade ink to stamp the watercolour background.  I stamped the lined squiggle without stamping off to create a contrast colour.

Top Tip:

My ink pad is very juicy so I stamped off twice onto a piece of scrap paper before stamping on the hexagon.

The sentiment has been stamped with Memento ink.  Its a lovely sentiment and one that I know I will be using a lot.

To assemble:

The hardest part of this project was deciding which of these stunning DSP sheets to use for my project.  The papers include a mix of small and large patterns and includes artsy swooshes, splotches and brushstrokes all accented with gold foil.

After cutting the DSP to size, I adhered it to the front of the card using Tomboww keeping the little offcut strip to decorate the inside.

I used dimensionals to adhere the hexagons.

The finishing touches:

I used several of the adhesive backed hexagons - such a quick and simple way to embellish a project!

The inside:

Adhere the strip of Just Jade card across the bottom of the inside using Tombow and then adhere the strip of DSP you saved on top.

The completed project:

A quick and simple project that is suitable for lots of occasions.  The gold foiling on the DSP adds a real WOW factor.
