Birds & Branches - quick & simple

Hello, I have a lovely project to share with you today using the Birds & Branches bundle.  I'm not sure what sort of bird my little die cut is - perhaps a Disney bluebird?  Anyway, I rather like him!

Here is my project:

The colours I used:

21 cm x 14.5 cm ww thick - scored at 10.5 cm
10 cm x 14 cm ww thick
9 cm x 9 cm ww thick (sky)
Extra ww thick for die cutting

The background:
I used a Sponge Dauber and some Balmy Blue ink to create a 'sky' background.

The background panel:
I used the 10 cm x 14 cm panel of card and embossed it with the Tasteful Textile 3D embossing folder before cutting out this lovely aperture.

The colouring:
I used Stampin' Blends to colour the birds.  I always cut extras when I am crafting just in case I change my mind about colours or something doesn't quite work out.

The sentiment:
I used a simple sentiment from another new stamp set called Forever Fern, stamped onto a Stitched Rectangle with Night of Navy ink.

To Assemble:
Adhere the 'sky' to the card base with Tombow positioning to fill the aperture that will sit on top.  The embossed and die cut panel has been adhered with dimensionals.

I used Tombow to adhere the die cut branch across the aperture and used a snipped up dimensional to adhere the bird.

I snipped the sentiment flush with the edge of the card and adhered with dimensionals.

The detail:
I used a little green jewel to highlight the eye of the bird.  You can also see the subtle texture achieved with the embossing folder - I will be using this one a lot!

The inside and the envelop:
As I had two birds left over I decided to use them to decorate the inside of the card and the envelope flap.  They have been well stuck down with lots of little dabs of Tombow.

The completed card:
The circular die I used to create the aperture is so pretty and, dare I say it, if the bird was coloured differently, this project would make a fabulous Christmas card!

I will be back later this week with another project using the lovely Birds and Branches bundle.

Have a crafty week!
