Artfully Layered - Ink Stamp Share

Hello and welcome to another Ink Stamp Share Blog Hop.  This month we have a fabulous challenge sketch and, I will be using a bundle called Artfully Layered for my project.

If you are starting our hop here with me at Craftyducky HQ or you have hopped over from Jo Blackman and her wonderful project,  welcome, why not grab a cuppa and hop along with us?

Here is the sketch we have been asked to work with this month.  Sketches are great when you need a tried and trusted layout or you have lost your crafty mojo and need a kick start.

I love the Artfully Layered bundle - I have used it a lot.  In fact, I used the very same bundle for last months hop too (you can see my project HERE)!  It seemed to me that it would be just perfect for this sketch!

Here is my project:
I followed the sketch above closely - the only thing I didn't do was add a ribbon.

You will need:
21 cm x 14.5 cm Old Olive card - scored at 10.5 cm
10 cm x 1 4 cm Basic White (BW)
13 cm x 10 cm Artfully Composed Designer Series Paper (DSP)
Small pieces of Gold Foil, Evening Evergreen, Bumble Bee, Basic White Thick (BWT) and scraps of DSP

The background:
The Artfully Composed DSP is a firm favourite of mine, I love leaves and the colours on this DSP are amongst my favourites.  I cut the DSP panel at 3 cm and 7 cm and adhered to the card base with Tombow.

Top tip #1
Make sure you adhere the pieces in the correct order!  If you look at the panel on the left, you can see that the darker leaf in the second panel aligns perfectly with top of the same leaf in the first panel.

The die cutting:
Create a frame from the Gold Foil using two of the Beautiful Shapes Dies.  I cut out two leaves using Evening Evergreen and another of the hexagon shapes (the smaller one) using BWT card and some of the tiny leaves using Bumblebee card.

Top tip #2
I always use a piece or washi tape when cutting frames to hold the dies in place.  If the dies slip they can cut into each other as I found to my cost once!

The sentiment:
I absolutely love the sentiments in the Artfully Layered stamp set.  I stamped this one using Evening Evergreen ink.

To assemble:
I adhered the gold hexagon to the card front using Tombow and added the two leaves, again with Tombow only adding glue to the leaves inside the frame. I quite like that not all the leaves have popped out from the die cut but if you prefer, you could pop them out.

I then used dimensionals to adhere the sentiment inside the gold frame.  I added some of the Bumble Bee leaves using Tombow.

The inside/envelope:
I don't usually stamp sentiments on the inside of my cards but I have a recipient in mind for this one.  I stamped the sentiment in Evening Evergreen ink and added a few of the tiny leaves (adhered with Tombow).  I had some strips of DSP on my desk that needed using so I adhered one on the bottom of the insert and another on the front of the envelope using Tombow.

The completed project:
I really like this sketch, it is a useful one to have in my repertoire and would work well with lots of different stamp sets.

Next up is Jill Chapman,  I can't wait to see how she interpreted out sketch challenge!
