Embellished Ornaments -
Hello - as promised yesterday I am sharing my creative journey using the Embellished Ornaments stamp set. Whilst chatting with a crafty friend yesterday I showed her the three cards I had made using this set; she loved them all and she enjoyed seeing the results of my crafty journey so I thought I would share the process with you!
This particular stamp was top of my wish list from the new catalogue and I could not wait to play with it.
I really love the card idea that is shown on page 15, the colour combination is right up my street!
The card below was my first attempt at recreating the design. I used an Aqua Painter to smoosh some Sahara Sand ink around to create a background and then added some Gorgeous Grunge splats on top. I then stamped the holly using Pear Pizazz ink and coloured in the leaves using an Aqua Painter.
The ornament was stamped in Marina Mist and then cut out with the Delicate Ornaments Thinlets (bundle = 15% saving).
I did not have room at the bottom of my card for the sentiment as I did not want to cover all the holly up so I added it to the top left instead.
I was quite pleased with the result but I was a little impatient with the smooshed background; not wanting to wait to let it dry before I stamped the holly so I decided to use the background stamp from the You've Got This stamp set as a quicker alternative for my second attempt.
This card has an alternative sentiment (from the Happy Scenes stamp set) and I added some Cherry Cobbler Dazzling Details to accent the berries too.
I felt the second card was almost there for me in terms of the design but I thought it still needed a little something else.
Here is my third, and final version of this card and I love it; a little change on the sentiment and some scuffed edges of the card base and I was a happy crafter!
I have been having so much fun with this set that I will be announcing a workshop shortly using this particular set -please contact me if you are interested in attending.
I would love you to leave a comment and let me know which version you prefer and why.
The Weekly Deals have been updated today; Rhinestone Basic Jewels are on offer at only £3.38 - make sure you grab some before they are gone!
Details of the products I used for this project can be found below, thanks for looking at my Blog.
