By The Bay - quick & simple

Here are the details for our first project this week using a stamp set called By The Bay.

This week we are using water colour techniques for our projects at the request of one of my crafty ladies.  Val has an Aqua Painter but has never used it so I said I would give her some ideas.

A couple of the colours we are using for this project are rather bright ...

Using Stazon ink we stamped the birds across a panel of water colour card.

Top Tip
Using an Aqua Painter, smoosh water across the the card before you add any colour.  When you add colour to the damp water colour card it will blend/move around a lot better.

I started to add colour to my panel from the bottom and worked my way up.

Can you see the lighter areas in the space between the birds?  I was aiming for a ray of light sort of effect.  I used some scrunched up tissue and pressed onto the wet panel to remove some of the ink.

Top Tip
This technique is also useful for creating clouds!

Top Tip
Wait a minute or two to let an area dry before you decide to add any more colour.  It is easier to add more colour than try to take it away!

I brought a selection of trims with me - we wrapped it around the panel, securing on the back with tape.

The panel was then mounted onto a piece of Whisper White and then Bermuda Bay before adhering to the card from with Dimensionals.

Here is the completed card and envelope.

I absolutely love this card - I am even thinking about doing a different sized version and popping it into a frame ...

After a comment on facebook from Karen I made a version of this project with a slightly larger Night of Navy background.

Obviously, I can't decide which version I like best but, I will bring along some Night of Navy card stock if anyone prefers it.

I have one further C & C sessions this week, if you would like to join me to make this card and another project, you can all find the details here.  Don't forget that if you place a £25 plus order on Thursday you can craft for free!

Details of the products I used for this project can be found below.

Hope you can join me for a crafty coffee soon.
