Free As A Bird - stepped up
Here are the details of our final project this week using my new favourite stamp set - Free As A Bird!
This project is my take on one shown on page 90 of the upcoming Annual Catalogue. I made a couple of changes/tweaks; most notably, not asking my crafty ladies to fussy cut a trio of birds with branches and flowers from the DSP. I feared a revolt!
If you craft with me or read my blog posts you will probably know that I am a HUGE fan of stitched edges on die cut shapes. I do seem to use my stitched edge dies a lot! This week my crafty ladies got to try out some brand new dies (available from my online store from the 4th June) - the Stitched Nested Labels dies.
There were several oohs and aahs and I know that some of them have already put these dies on their wish lists. I love them too so I guess I will be using them a lot too! However, this makes them excellent value for money and, the stamps and the new dies are available as a bundle with a 10% saving too which is even better value!
We stamped the birds using Early Espresso ink and coloured with the Stampin' Blends.
We used the leaf stamp and Pool Party ink to add some interest to the Pool Party layer and then adhered our coloured bird panel with dimensionals.
This lovely sentiment was stamped onto a 1.5cm wide piece of ww and some of the gorgeous Scalloped Lace Trim was placed behind before adhering to the card with dimensionals. A trio of pearls completed the card.
A simple leaf was stamped on the inside of the card and the envelope too.
Here is the completed card and envelope.
These lovely bird images can be coloured in lots of different combinations and, I can even see the birds with a red tummy for Christmas!
The version on the left below was coloured with Calypso Coral and then toned down a little by going over with the Light Crumb Cake blend.
A couple of my crafty ladies this week coloured their birds in blue and yellow for a different look that was soft and pretty.
I know I will be using these stamps and the other items in the Bird Ballad Suite a lot - they are quite simply stunning!
Thanks to everyone who joined me this week. Next week we will be using a stamp set called Dandelion Wishes - I will share details of our projects over the weekend.
I will be back on Saturday as I am hopping again with Joy of Sets taking part in another Tic Tac Toe Challenge.
Have a crafty weekend.
