Stampers Showcase Blog Hop - babies and children

Hello and welcome to another Stampers Showcase Blog Hop!  This month our theme is babies and children.

If you are joining me from Leonie in Australia or starting here with me, welcome - grab a cuppa and hop around with us for lots of inspiration.

This month finds me really short on time so I decided to find some inspiration from the Annual Catalogue.

I decided to CASE (copy and selectively edit) one the cards shown on page 99; with a couple of little tweaks of my own.

This stamp set called Dino Days - is just sooooo cute.  It's available as a bundle too with a set of coordinating dies with a 10% saving.

The colours I used for my project came from the coordinating Designer Series Paper called Dinoroar!

I cut a piece of DSP 5mm smaller than my card base and scuffed the edges.

The piece of vellum is 2cm smaller than the card base and has been embossed with the Layered Leaves embossing folder for extra interest.

I then recreated the egg using the coordinating dies.  I used a sponge dauber to add some colour around the edges with Pineapple Punch ink.  I also used one of the little background images from the set too.

I attached the egg pieces together on one side using my pokey tool and a brad.  The dinosaur has been stamped in Pool Party and the spikes in Old Olive ink.  Both pieces have been die cut and assembled.  I then adhered him to the reverse of the egg using Tombow.

I stamped out some leaves and cut them out with the coordinating dies.  The leaves have been curled and shaped then adhered with dimensionals.

I didn't have any of the ribbon used for the original project so I used some Braided Linen Thread instead.  I cut two pieces and teased the ends apart.

I adhered the threads using glue dots.

The assembled egg has been adhered using doubled up dimensionals.

The sentiment has been stamped in Pretty Peacock ink onto a scrap of Pool Party card.

This card has a fun element to it.  The egg can open and close making a cracking (sorry) card for small children!

I cut a piece of regular whisper white card 5mm smaller than the card base to use on the inside.  I also used the sponge dauber and the background stamp to add some colour to the inside of the card and the envelope.

I really enjoyed challenging myself to recreate a version of a project shown in the Annual Catalogue - it is such a great source of inspiration!  I have lots of ideas for using this cute bundle and, it could well make an appearance at a Coffee & Cards session soon!

Next up is Sue Vine from Australia - I can't wait to see what she has to share with us.

Thanks for hopping along with us - don't forget to leave comments as you hop around to let us know what you think of our projects.  Details of the products I used for this project can be found below.

Happy hopping!

Susan xx
