Positive Thoughts - stepped up

Here are the details for our final project this week using a lovely stamp set called Positive Thoughts.

I love everything about this project; the colours and the scuffed edges are apparently 'very me' according to a couple of my crafty ladies!

To create the Positive Thoughts card
Pretty Peacock 29 cm x 10.5 cm scored at 14.5 cm
Sahara Sand 10 cm x 14 cm (embossed panel)
WW 10 cm x 14 cm (inside panel)

You will also need pieces of Sahara Sand and Pretty Peacock for the die cut elements.

To create the decorative elements
Use the Sahara Sand ink pad to add ink to the Country Floral embossing folder - I inked on the side with the black SU label as shown below.  (I used Granny Apple Green ink so you could see it in the photo).

Carefully place the piece of Sahara Sand card on the clean side of the folder and gently close the folder.  Run through the Big Shot.  This is such a great technique, so many possibilities and a different result every time.

Top Tip
Clean the folder with either a baby wipe or soap and water and it will live to emboss another day!

Below you can see what happens when you ink to the opposite side of the folder. Debossed on the left, embossed on the right.  I used the embossed version for my projects this week.

I also scuffed the edges of the printed panel but you don't have to if scuffing is not your thing.  I used Tombow to adhere to the card base.

I used the beautiful stitched edge frame die to cut out the decorative panel and scuffed the edges.  If you look closely at the top, you can see I added a little ink with a sponge dauber too.  Adding ink around the scuffed edges creates an aged/shabby look.

Stamp two of the fern images with Sahara Sand ink onto the panel and a flower using Pretty Peacock ink in the bottom corner.

I used some of the lovely Pretty Peacock Scalloped Linne Ribbon across the front of the panel adhering on the reverse across the centre of the flower for a balanced look.

I also stamped a fern and a butterfly using Pretty Peacock ink on Sahara Sand card and cut out with the dies.  I also cut out a feather from Sahara Sand and a flower centre and two tiny sprigs from Pretty Peacock.  You can add ink to the edges of the feather too if you like.

Assembling the card
Adhere the panel to the card front with dimensionals.  I curled and shaped the fern and the feather and adhered with Tombow, tucking the ends of the stems under the ribbon.

The butterfly has been curled and shaped and adhered with a tiny dab of Tombow on just the body.  This allows the wings to lift as though in flight.  I added a trio of pearls along the body.

If you use a poky tool you can 'lift' each petal in this tiny die cut flower to create dimension.  I used a dimensional to adhere the flower and then placed two tiny sprigs behind adhering with Tombow.  A pearl in the centre of the flower adds a finishing touch.

Of course I added a decorative insert so that a message can be written on the card.  I used Sahara Sand ink to stamp ferns along the bottom edge and then scuffed the edges.  The tiny butterfly was added to cover a splodge of ink!

I made a couple of slightly different versions of this project this week too.  I love them all for different reasons but, if I had to choose it would be the middle one!

For the card on the right, I used Soft Suede ink on the embossing folder - definitely not something for the faint hearted!

Thanks to everyone who joined me for a crafty coffee this week.  Next week we will be using a stamp and punch bundle called Under My Umbrella.  So much rain here in Cambridgeshire at the moment, it must have influenced my choice of projects!

I'm back at the weekend hopping along with Hopping Around The World; we have lots of Easter inspiration to share with you.

Have a crafty weekend!
