Positive Thoughts - for the Kre8tors Blog Hop
Hello, I was delighted to be selected this month to be featured as Guest Designer for the Kre8tors Blog Hop. You will find lots of inspiration as you hop around with us this month.
This month our theme is a colour challenge. Green, green or green in fact, anything green with a little Whisper White or Basic Black added for good measure.
I do use green on my projects but not usually as the main focal point. I guess I am more of a Pretty Peacock, Bermuda Bay girl. However I had to choose a green so I went with a single colour of ink - Granny Apple Green for my project.
I used a stamp set called Positive Thoughts and the coordinating Nature's Thoughts Die for my Coffee & Cards projects last week so at it was still out on my desk, I decided to use it for this project too.
This stamp set really reminds me of a retired stamp set called Butterfly Basics. Lots of little elements and dies make this a very versatile stamp set.
Here is my project.
To create the Positive Thoughts card
Thick ww 29xm x 10.5 cm scored at 14.5 cm
Thick ww 14 x 10 cm
You will also need pieces of ww thick card and Granny Apple Green card.
Ink up the Country Floral embossing folder with Granny Apple Green ink. (I inked up the side with the black SU logo on).
Carefully place the piece of thick ww card on the clean side of the folder and close together. Run through the Big Shot.
Top Tip
Don't forget to clean the embossing folder. I used a baby wipe but you can also wash with soap and water.
I used the frame die to cut a panel from thick ww card. I love the detail on this die - a sort of wiggly stitched edge which is very pretty.
I then used Granny Apple Green ink to stamp some ferns and a flower using second and third generation stamping for the ferns.
To create the die cut elements
I stamped a butterfly and a fern on thick ww with Granny Apple Green ink and die cut.
I used thick ww card to cut out this lovely border die. I also cut out a couple of sprigs and a flower from Granny Apple Green card.
To assemble the card
I wrapped a length of Granny Apple Green Woven Trim around the die cut panel adhering on the reverse with double sided tape. I adhered the panel with dimensionals.
I used mini glue dots to adhere the die cut border.
The petals on the flower have been carefully lifted with my poky tool. It has been adhered with a dimensional. I added a jewel to the centre of the flower.
I curled and shaped the fern and adhered with Tombow, tucking the end of the stem behind the ribbon.
I also added two little sprigs behind the flower, adhering with Tombow on the stems only.
I curled and shaped the butterfly wings and adhered along the body only using Tombow. Three tiny jewels added as a finishing touch.
I also stamped an assortment of ferns on the inside of the card and the envelope with Granny Apple Green ink.
Here is the completed card and envelope.
I also created a couple of different versions of this project - once I started I found I could not stop!
Not sure which project I like best, perhaps the one on the right? This challenge has definitely brought out my inner green. You can see the version of this project I made using Sahara Sand and Pretty Peacock HERE.
Details of the products I used for this project can be found below. Thanks to Melissa for featuring me on this hop.
