Bonanza Buddies - Joy of Sets Tic Tac Toe Challenge #0017
Hello, can you believe it's time for another Joy Of Sets Tic Tac Toe Challenge? We have a great grid again this month, this one has been designed by Fiona Whitehead.
We are partnering up with Double Trouble this month. Their 'Thing 1' Challenge is to produce a birthday card.
This month has been tough, I have been so busy that I have had little time for crafting. However, my daughter asked me if I would make a special card for her to give to a friend. Alfie will be celebrating his 1st birthday on the 10th May which is the same day as my sons birthday so he needs a special card too!
I decided to make a CAS (clean and simple) project that featured something that flies and was also a square card.
Here is my project.
These are the colours I used - they were taken from the Designer Series Paper.
To create the Bonanza Buddies card
28 cm x 14 cm ww thick card, scored at 14cm
13.5 cm x 13.5 cm ww thick
Small pieces of the colours shown above for the die cut letters.
To create the die cut elements
I cut out each letter in the colours above using the Hand Lettered Prose Dies. These lovely letter dies will be retiring soon but I will be keeping my set on the shelf for a long time!
I adhered them randomly to create letter stacks with tiny dabs of Tombow.
I do have to admit that at one point, I was wondering what on earth I was thinking of whilst I was assembling the dots to go above the letter i - they were very fiddlly!
The toucan has been cut from a piece of the DSP with the coordinating die.
Stamped elements
I used Memento ink to stamp the balloon strings in the corner of the ww panel.
I used Bermuda Bay, Calypso Coral and Mango Melody to stamp the balloons onto scrap card. I punched each one out with the 1/2" Circle Punch.
To assemble the Bonanza Buddies card
The toucan and the balloons have been adhered with dimensionals. The stacked letters have been adhered with Tombow.
You can see the dimension and the colour that you achieve by stacking the letters - simple but very effective.
This was the finished panel - I decided it was a little too clean and simple even for me.
So I added two die cut strips of bunting cut from a scrap of DSP. I used mini dimensionals to adhere the bunting.
Once complete, the panel was adhered to the card base with dimensionals.
I also stamped on the inside of the card - I probably should have coloured the beak but I only thought of it when I was writing this post (last minute again)!
So here is the finished card. At the time of writing this post I have spent a considerable amount of time looking for just one of the two Envelope Punch Boards I own. I don't have an envelope to share - I was going to make one out of the DSP. No idea where I have put them - they will probably turn up when I am looking for something else!
Why not head over the the Joy of Sets Blog to see what the rest of the Design Team have made of this fun challenge HERE - there are some lovely projects this month!
If you haven't tried a Tic Tac Toe challenge before why not give it a go; if you are stuck in a rut or suffering from crafter's block you might just find it useful! You can also enter our challenge and share your project - there is a chance you could be our next guest designer and hop along with us next month! I know that one of my crafty friends joined our April challenge; the grid helped to kick start her crafty mojo!
Details of the products I used for this project can be found below.
Thanks to Fiona for choosing our grid this month and for keeping us organised!
Stay safe and well, happy crafting.
