Ornate Layers - quick & simple

Here are the details for the first project this week using items from the Ornate Garden Suite; a die set called Ornate Layers and a stamp set called Ornate Thanks.

I love the detail on these dies and I seem to be using them quite a bit at the moment.  However the die that excites me the most is the slim, stitched edge rectangle - I do love stitched edge dies!

I don't know about you but I seem to hoard DSP.  At this time of the year when I am taking soon to be retired items from my shelves, I always seem to discover much loved DSP I had forgotten about.

So this project uses up some DSP albeit, not some that is retiring!  The layout is really simple and suitable for all sorts of occasions using all that DSP we all have.

Here is my project.

You will need:
21 cm x 14.5 cm thick ww - scored at 10.5 cm
10 cm x 14 cm ww thick
14 cm x 11 cm DSP
Scrap of ww for sentiment

The background panel:

Cut three rectangles from the DSP and adhere to the ww panel with dimensionals.  I confess I used a ruler to make sure they were spaced out evenly.  Attach a piece of ribbon across the centre adhering on the back with double sided tape.

The sentiment:

I used one of the Stitched So Sweetly dies to create a panel for the sentiment. I love the mix of fonts with these sentiment stamps - I stamped using two different colours of ink.

To assemble:

I adhered the sentiment with dimensionals.

I also cut two further rectangles from DSP to decorate the inside of the card and the envelope, adhering with Tombow.  I confess that I did deliberately line up the piece on the inside of the card and the envelope with the panels on the front - a bad case of crafty OCD I fear!

Finishing touches:

I added a little bow, adhered with a mini glue dot and three gilded gems.  I must remember to order some more of these gems - I have been using them a lot lately.

As I mentioned above, this is a really quick and simple project that looks effective either portrait or landscape style and would be good for male cards but perhaps without the bow!  The stamp and die set I used for this project are part of the Ornate Garden Suite.  I will be back later this week using the other die set and the 3D embossing folder.

Happy crafting, stay safe and well.
