Seaside View - Ink Stamp Share
Hello and welcome to the September Ink Stamp Share Blog Hop. My name is Susan aka Craftyduckydoodah! and I live in beautiful Cambridgeshire (UK) in a picturesque riverside town called Godmanchester. I have been a Stampin' Up Demonstrator for almost six years.
If you are starting here with me or you have hopped over from Gez Carpenter, welcome - we have lots of fabulous projects to inspire you.
Our theme this month is a colour challenge - we have been asked to use at least three of the colours below.
I decided to use a stamp set called Seaside View for my project. Unfortunately, like many others, my holiday this year has been cancelled and this is as near I have managed to get to the seaside.
These lovely images are just perfect for your favourite colouring technique. I used the fabulous Water Painters and ink squeezed onto the lids for my project but these images would look good coloured with Blends or watercolour pencils depending on what effect you wanted to achieve. I was aiming for a calm and relaxed look.
Here is my project:
The colours I used:
I used all the colours shown above - then I think I went a bit mad and added Sahara Sand and Smoky Slate too!
You will need:
21 cm x 14.5 cm ww thick - scored at 10.5 cm
14 cm x 10 cm watercolour paper plus small piece for palm trees
12 cm x 8.5 cm Pretty Peacock
The background:
I used my favourite Stitched Rectangle dies to create a frame from the watercolour paper.
I used the smaller die to cut a panel from Pretty Peacock too.
I used Foam Adhesive Strips to adhere the white frame to the front of the card and then added the Pretty Peacock panel using Tomow.
The stamping:
I used Stazon ink to stamp this lovely image onto the die cut rectangle. I also stamped a palm tree onto a scrap of watercolour paper. The gulls were added to balance out the palm trees in the left hand corner.
For the sky I used very watery Pretty Peacock and dabbed with a small piece of scrunched up tissue to create clouds.
Sea - Pretty Peacock
Decking/railings/plant pot - Smoky Slate
Chairs and table - Sahara Sand and Melon Mambo
Shrubbery/trees - Sahara Sand, Pear Pizzazz and Just Jade
Rugs - Gorgeous Grape (very watery)
Boat - Merry Merlot
To assemble:
I adhered the frame using Foam Adhesive Strips and then added the Pretty Peacock die cut using Tombow. The coloured panel has also been adhered with foam strips. I fussy cut the palm trees and adhere with mini dimensionals.
The inside/envelope:
I stamped the palm trees and the gulls on the inside of the card. I coloured with the Water Painters using a very dry brush.
Top Tip
Add a swoosh of colour below the palm trees to 'ground' them, quite literally in this case! If you don't do this they look like they are floating in mid air.
I resisted the temptation to colour the images on the envelope.
The completed project:
Outtake!
