Oh Snap - Stampers Showcase Blog Hop

Hello and welcome to another Stampers Showcase Blog Hop.  This month our theme is all about love that comes in many different shapes and sizes.

If you are starting here with me at Craftyducky HQ or you have hopped over from Jessica in the USA - welcome.  I hope you find lots of inspiration as you hop around with us this month.

I decided to use a new stamp set called Oh Snap for my project.  You can't but help smile at this crocodile!  Send crocodile kisses, birthday wishes or even your sincerest apologies with the images in this set which are perfect for the young and the young at heart!

Here is my project:
I do like a good pun and, this card will enable me to get ahead of the game for once!

The colours I used:
You will need:
21 cm x 14.5 cm Basic Grey - scored at 10.5 cm
10 cm x 14 cm Basic White Thick (BWT)
10 cm x 14 cm Basic White (BW)
BWT thick for stamping
Small piece of Poppy Parade for die cutting

The background:
I used a blending brush to add some colouring along the bottom of the BWT panel using Pool Party ink.

I then added some waves and a lily pad using Pool Party ink.  I also stamped the sentiment with Memento ink.  If you prefer, you could stamp the lily pad with green ink for a different look.

The crocodile:
Whenever I play with a new stamp set I like to have a bit of an experiment.  My first croc was stamped onto a piece of DSP with Granny Apple Green ink.

Top Tip #1
The croc image is quite large so I used my Stamparatus.

I liked the result but not enough to use on my project so I didn't trim round the teeth etc!

For the second croc I stamped him with Memento ink onto BWT card again using my Stamparatus.

Unfortunately there are no coordinating dies with the Oh Snap stamp set so I had to resort to fussy cutting!

Top Tip #2
Trim a straight line across the top of the teeth and the tail.

You can then snip tiny triangles around each section.

Colour the croc with the light and dark Granny Apple Green Blends.  You will also need to stamp a frog, fussy cut him out and colour with the light Granny Apple Green Blend too.

To assemble:
Adhere the background to the card base with dimensionals.  Adhere the crocodile and the frog to the card base with dimensionals.  Die cut a heart using Poppy Parade card and adhere in the crocodile's mouth with a dimensional.

The inside:
Using the blending brush, add some Pool Party ink along the bottom of the BW panel.  Stamp some waves using Pool Party and the croc's tail and the sentiment with Memento ink.  I coloured the tail with the light and dark Granny Apple Green Blends.  Adhere to the inside of the card with double sided tape.

The envelope:
Stamp a partial crocodile using Memento ink and colour with the Blends as above.  I then used up the remaining ink on the blending brush to add a little colour under the croc before stamping some waves with Pool Party ink.

Top Tip #3
Place a piece of scrap paper inside the envelope whilst colouring with the Blends.  These lovely pens are very juicy and the ink will seep though to the back of the envelope (not a good look)!

The finishing touches:
Googly eyes - I had to do it! I also used one of the white resin heart embellishments on the front of the card and two red ones on each side of the sentiment on the inside.

The finished project:
This project would also make a fabulous, fun birthday card for a child.
