Kangaroo & Company - Stampers Showcase

Hello and welcome to another Stamper Showcase Blog Hop.  If you are starting here with me at Craftyducky HQ or, have hopped over from my crafty friend Mo Roots - welcome and thanks for hopping along with us.

Craftyduckydoodah, Kangaroo & Company, Stampin' Up, Stampers Showcase Blog Hop,

This month we are sharing thank you cards and projects - we all need a thank you every now and then right?

I decided to use a stamp set call Kangaroo & Company that has been sitting on my shelf uninked for some time now.

This cute stamp set and coordinating die bundle will have you bouncing (sorry!) with creativity!  The images allow you to create scenes with the kangaroos with lots of accessories and a fun interactive 'secret' message!

Here is my project:

The colours I used:

You will need:

21 cm x 14.5 cm Basic White Thick (BWT) - scored at 10.5 cm

10 cm x 14 cm BWT x 2 (one for the front and the other for the inside)

BWT for stamping and die cutting

The background:

I used blending brushes to add some colour to the background panel using Granny Apple Green and Balmy Blue inks.  I then stamped some grass using Granny Apple Green.

The stamping and die cutting:

I stamped the pieces below using Memento ink, then out with the coordinating dies and coloured with the Stampin' Blends pens.

I struggled initially to decide what colour the kangaroo should be; after a quick google search I discovered that they seem to be either grey or brown in colour so, I went with the brown option!  I used Crumb Cake light all over and then went back and added shading using Crumb Cake dark before going over the ink again with the light blend.

To assemble:

I scuffed the edges of my panel and then adhered to the card base with Tombow.  I then added the kangaroo with dimensionals.   Once I had assembled the card I decided to add two butterflies as finishing touches.  They have been stamped with Memento, die cut and then coloured with the Stampin' Blends before being adhered with mini dimensionals.

Top Tip:

Think about where the message will pop through the slit on the kangaroos pouch - don't put dimensionals there otherwise the message won't fit!  (Ask me how I know)!

I used Tombow to attach the flowers to the message and then popped through the slit in the kangaroos pouch.  I was careful not to add glue to the very edge of the flowers so that they could be positioned nicely over the top of the kangaroos pouch.

The inside/envelope:

I used the blending brushes again to create a background to coordinate with the front of the card.  I also added two tiny butterflies which have been stamped in Memento and coloured with the blends.  I managed to get an inky splodge on the butterfly on the right so I stamped and die cut another and adhered with a mini dimensional to hide the splodge.  I scuffed the edges of the insert and adhered with Tombow.  The envelope has been decorated in the same way in just the left hand corner.

The sentiment:

My thank you sentiment is hidden away on the front of my project but I will pop a note on the inside of the card with instructions for a surprise!

Here is the completed project:

I do like white space on my projects and if I can add scuffed edges too then I am happy!  This card will be going to a neighbour who popped some lovely flowers on the doorstep as a surprise.

Next up is Annette Elias from the Netherlands who has another thank you project to share with us.

Thanks for hopping along with us, don't forget to leave comments as you go along (we like that)!
