Beauty of Friendship - Colour Combo Blog Hop

Hello and welcome to another Colour Combo Blog Hop.  For our challenge this month I will be using a lovely new bundle called Beauty of Friendship.

Craftyduckydoodah, Stampin' Up, Beauty of Friendship, Colour Combo Blog Hop,

If you are joining our hop here with me at Craftyducky HQ or have hopped over from Cheryl Taylor, welcome we have lots of inspiration to share with you this month.  There is nothing quite like a colour challenge to budge you well and truly out of your comfort zone.  The challenge colours this month certainly did for me!

The Beauty of Friendship is a stamp and die bundle that I know I will get lots of use out of - I love all things trees and, I can even see me using the tree trunks for Christmas cards!

Craftyduckydoodah, Stampin' Up, Beauty of Friendship, Colour Combo Blog Hop,

This is a two-step stamp set that allows you to layer up two or more images to create a final image with lots of texture and dimension in any colours that you want.

Here is my project:

I'm not sure what I was thinking with this project - I was aiming for a blossom tree of some sort.

Craftyduckydoodah, Stampin' Up, Beauty of Friendship, Colour Combo Blog Hop,

The colours I used:

In addition to the challenge colours I used some Soft Suede card for the tree trunks and the birds.

You will need:

21 cm x 10.5 cm Basic White Thick (BWT) scored at 10.5 cm

10cm x 14 cm BWT

10 cm x 4 cm Shaded Spruce

12 cm x 8 cm Soft Suede

Shaded Spruce & BWT for the tree tops

The die cutting:

I used Soft Suede to cut two tree trunks and two birds.  I also used the outline and 'inner' tree top dies cutting from both BWT and Shaded Spruce.  I also die cut rectangles from BWT for my sentiments.

The stamping:

I used the little splodgy image to stamp 'blossom' onto the two BWT pieces with Flirty Flaming and Magenta Madness inks using both first and second generation stamping.

The sentiment:

I used Soft Suede ink to stamp the sentiments onto the die cut rectangles.

To assemble:

Adhere the tree tops using mini dimensionals - there is just enough room to fit mini dimensionals thank goodness!

Once assembled, I needed to decide which version to use on my project.

https://derbesondereblick.blogspot.com/2021/05/colour-combo-may-2021.html

I couldn't decide so, I decided to make two projects!

Adhere the die cut tree trunks onto the BWT panel using Tombow.

Top Tip:

You only really need to adhere the bottom of the trunk as the top will be held in place by the leaves/blossom.  (It saves a lot of faffing too)!

Adhere the leaves/blossom using dimensionals.  I still couldn't decide which tree I liked best.

https://derbesondereblick.blogspot.com/2021/05/colour-combo-may-2021.html

I tore along the edge of the Shaded Spruce panel, tearing towards me for a textured look and then adhered to the bottom of the panel using Tombow to 'ground' the trees - in this case, quite literally!

I wrapped some linen thread around both panels adhering on the back with double sided tape.  I tied a double for bow for one, adhering with a rolled up glue dot.

Both sentiments and birds have been added with dimensionals.

The details:

I used tiny black jewels as eyes for the birds.

The completed projects:

I confess I ran out of time to decorate the inside of the cards and the envelopes before the hop went live but I will definitely do something as soon as I can.

Craftyduckydoodah, Stampin' Up, Beauty of Friendship, Colour Combo Blog Hop,

To be honest, I am not sure about my projects - on balance, I think I prefer the card on the left but I don't know why!

Next up is Natalie Albers from Germany - I can't wait to see what she has done with this challenge!

Thanks for hopping along with us, why not try a colour combo challenge too?

Susan xx

Thank you so much for looking at my Blog today.  Unfortunately I am no longer a Stampin' Up! Demonstrator.  SU regulations are very strict; I have to wait 3 whole months before I can rejoin again.

If you need to order any supplies, just let me know and I will put you in touch with my crafty friend who kindly agreed to look after my lovely customers until I can become a demonstrator again.

If you would like a copy of either of the current Annual Catalogue just let me know and I will arrange for a copy to be sent to you.
