Rainbow Of Happiness - Kre8tors Blog Hop

Hello and welcome to the return blog hop for the Kre8tors!  I was delighted to discover that this hop has started again and am excited to see all the projects being shared this month.  I will be using a bundle called Rainbow Of Happiness for my project.

Craftyduckydoodah, Stampin Up, Rainbow Of Happiness, Kre8tors Blog Hop,

If you are starting here with me at Craftyducky HQ or have hopped over from Tracie St-Louis and her fabulous project, welcome this month we have been given free reign for our choice of projects.

Rainbow Of Happiness was a bundle I could not wait to get my hands on when I saw the new mini catalogue.  I love all things rainbow!

Craftyduckydoodah, Stampin Up, Rainbow Of Happiness, Kre8tors Blog Hop,

This fabulous bundle contains the Rainbow Of Happiness stamp set and the Brilliant Rainbow dies.  As a bundle there is a 10% discount saving too.  Have you spotted the rainbow shaped sentiment - how clever is that!

Here is my project:
My card idea was simple, at least in my head but it turned into an oops card!  However, there is usually a way to fix those oops moments.

The colours I used:
This was a tough one, so many choices.  In the end I went with a selection of colours from the Brights Collection but you can, of course create rainbows in any colours that you like.
You will need:
21 cm x 14.5 cm Basic White Thick (BWT) - scored at 10.5 cm
10 cm x 14 cm BWT
1cm strip of Pattern Party Designer Series Paper (DSP)
You will also need pieces of card in the colours shown above for die cutting

The die cutting:
I cut the rainbows from each colour so I could mix and match the rainbow stripes.

Oops 1:
In my excitement to play with my new goodies I did not stop to consider how the die would cut my card!

Oops 2:
Take two with a new piece of card.  What I should have done is use a piece of washi tape to hold the die in place before running through my die cutting machine.  The edge on the left was not quite even and my crafty OCD could not accept this!  Details of how I fixed this oops can be found below.

The sentiment:
Again, I was too excited to use my goodies and this resulted in yet another oops moment helped (not at all) when my cat Annie jumped onto my desk!  This lovely sentiment has been stamped with Memento ink.

Craftyduckydoodah, Stampin Up, Rainbow Of Happiness, Kre8tors Blog Hop,

Fortunately I was able to fix this oops by stamping the sentiment again onto a stitched edge square die cut.

The punching:
I was so excited when I realised the the Cloud Punch was just the right size to punch out the clouds on this free Sale-A-Bration DSP!

Craftyduckydoodah, Stampin Up, Rainbow Of Happiness, Kre8tors Blog Hop,

I punched out all the clouds from the paper, even the partial ones.  You will see below what I did with them as we crafters don't like to waste our supplies!

To assemble:
To fix the second oops I adhered a 1cm strip of Pattern Party DSP using Tombow.  The die cut panel has been adhered to the card front using dimensionals.  I was quite pleased with this fix - the black really makes the rainbow pop.

Craftyduckydoodah, Stampin Up, Rainbow Of Happiness, Kre8tors Blog Hop,

Top Tip:
I snipped tiny pieces from the edge of the dimensional sheet to support the arches of the rainbow.

I then adhered the rainbow arches, placing carefully inside the die cut panel using Tombow to create depth and dimension.

I adhered a partial cloud to the bottom of the rainbow using Tombow and then a whole cloud with dimensionals.

Adhere the sentiment with dimensionals or stamp directly onto the card base if you prefer (before adhering to the card front of course)!

The inside/envelope:
Remember the partial clouds I punched out of the DSP?  I aligned them to the inside of my card and the envelope, adhering with Tombow!

The completed project:
I was really pleased with how this project turned out - those oops were turned into happy accidents that I think actually improved my initial idea!
