Happiness Abounds - Kre8tors Blog Hop

Hello and welcome to the latest Kre8tors Blog Hop.  This month I will be using the Happiness Abounds bundle for my project as our theme is to focus on items in the new catalogue.

Hmmm, use something from the new catalogue - so many choices and beautiful new goodies to choose from!  For once, my choice was easy - the Happiness Abounds bundle.  Have you seen the image on the front of the new annual catalogue?  The card shown has been made with this bundle.  As soon as I saw the edging on that project I started searching (it took me a while) but I found it and ordered it straight away!  I have already been using that border die a lot.

Here is my project:

The Hues of Happiness DSP is so pretty, I love the colour combinations in the papers.  You can also die cut lots of the flowers and leaves featured on the DSP too.  I used Stampin' Blends to colour my flowers and leaves but you could also die cut them for a quicker project if colouring is not your thing.

The colours I used:

I chose some of the colours featured on the Hues of Happiness Designer Series Paper.

You will need:

21 cm x 14.5 cm Basic White Thick (BWT) scored at 10.5 cm

10 cm x 14 cm BWT

13.5 cm x 5cm Designer Series Paper (DSP)

13.5 cm x 1.5 cm DSP x 3

The background:

I used the border die towards the bottom of the BWT card.  I adhered the smaller strip of DSP behind the die cut border using Tombow.

Top tip:

Make sure you use plenty of washi tape (or similar) to hold the edge die in place otherwise there is a strong chance the die will slip when cutting and no one wants a wonky border do they?

I then adhered the other piece of DSP across the front of the card using Tombow.

The stamping, die cutting and colouring:

I stamped and die cut lots of flowers and leaves for my project using the colours listed above.  I then coloured each flower/leaf with the same colour Stampin' Blends.

The sentiment:

I decided not to add one!  However, if necessary, I can add one at a later date.

To assemble:

Adhere the BWT panel to the front of the card with dimensionals.  The three larger flowers have been adhered with Tombow and the smaller ones with dimensionals.  The leaves have been curled and shaped and tucked around the flowers and adhered with Tombow.

The finishing touch:

I could have used the Glossy Dots Assortment that coordinate perfectly with this suite.  However, I wanted a softer look so I used the iridescent rhinestones instead.  I scattered several around the flowers for a little sparkle.

The inside/envelope:

I used one of the 1.5 cm strips of DSP to decorate the inside of my card, adhering across the bottom of the card with Tombow.  As I had an extra flower and some leaves I added those too!

I used the last strip of DSP to decorate the envelope, adhering down the left hand side, snipping off the excess pieces on the ends.

The completed project:

I wasn't really sure where this project was going when I started it but I really like the layout.  I like to keep some cards on hand that I can add an appropriate sentiment to and this fits the bill perfectly!
