Butterfly Basics - shabby style!

Hello!  I spent a very pleasant afternoon yesterday with a very good friend of mine wandering around the streets of Stamford (Lincs).  It is such a pretty little town and there are some amazing shops, the sort that are a little different from the norm and have lots of lovely inspiring things to look at!  A spot of lunch and a couple of coffees at the riverside tearooms and we soon put the world to rights!

I have made many cards with the Butterfly Basics stamp set (matching thinlets dies available too as a bundle saving 15%) and I am so pleased it will continue in the new catalogue which is launched at the beginning of June.  (If you would like a copy just let me know and I will send one out to you).

I must admit have I not made a shabby/grungy style of card for some time now - obviously I must have been influenced by my day out yesterday but I am really pleased with how this turned out -  so much so, that this will be the card we will make at the coffee and card session on Tuesday at Stugles Coffee Shop (St Ives, Cambs).  If you are around please pop in and join me any time between 2:30 and 4:30pm - everyone welcome, no experienced needed!

This is a close up of the butterfly which I layered with a vellum die cut butterfly over the top to soften the image a little.  The seam binding ribbon has been layered with some Venetian Crochet Trim and the butterfly finished off with a couple of pearls.
You might just be able to see on the left hand side that I have scuffed the edges of my final layer with an old pair of scissors and rolled the edges slightly to make it look a little shabby.  After stamping the flowers I used a water brush to blur the black ink a little and coloured the centre of the open flower with a yellow marker pen.

I stamped a single fern on the inside layer and again, scuffed the edges so that everything coordinated:

This is the finished card with its matching envelope - I hope you like it.
