Wetlands - when you need a card in a hurry!

Hello again.  Two questions for you today:
  • Do you struggle with men's cards?
  • Do you leave things until the last minute?
For me, the answer, unfortunately to both questions is a big YES!!

I had the daft idea this morning that I would do a bit of a tidy up in my craft room - before I knew it it was lunchtime and then I remembered I needed to post a card to my friend's husband today because it is his birthday tomorrow!

I stood gazing at my shelf full of stamps and for some reason (call it divine intervention if you like), a stamp set called Wetlands caught my eye.  When I first saw this set I really liked it but for some reason I have never used it.

Trying to think manly thoughts, I grabbed some card stock and made a card blank in Soft  Suede along with a top layer in Sahara Sand.

A quick stamp of the birds and a message (from Crazy About You) using Staz On ink and I was almost there.

I reached for my one of my favourite sets - Gorgeous Grunge and used this with some Sahara Sand ink to provide something to 'ground' the birds and then I smooched around a bit (technical term) with a water brush to give some depth.  This stamp is brilliant as it gives you a good suggestion of where to add shade with the clever use of black lines below the birds.

At this point, I thought it looked a little plain so I reached for my scoreboard and embossed two lines on each side of the message, added a metallic button and some linen thread and I was almost there.   A stamp with Gorgeous Grunge and the birds (stamped off) on the inside:

And across the bottom of the envelope and I was finished - phew!

I did make it to the Post Office in time, so fingers crossed it will arrive tomorrow!

I really enjoyed using this stamp set, so much so that when I got back from the Post Office I made another card which I will share with you in my next post!
