Watercolour Wings

Does anybody else spend ages on Pinterest or is it just me?

I have had the amazing Watercolour Wings stamp set for almost two weeks now and to my shame it only made it out of its case on Wednesday - mainly because I spent absolutely ages trawling Pinterest for colour combinations!

Anyway, out it finally came and I love, love, love this set!  My mind is buzzing with possibilities and colour combos (thanks Pinterest)!

Watercolor Wings Photopolymer Stamp Set by Stampin' Up!

There are two different sizes of butterflies and some accent stamps in this set, not to mention the sentiments!

Watercolour Wings is known as a 'two step' stamp set; it has a base image and further images you can overlay to create unique images.  Photopolymer stamps are entirely transparent for perfect image placement - just use the colours and images to create the butterflies you want.

As if this wasn't brilliant enough there is even a matching set of of Framelits (Bold Butterfly) which you can buy as a bundle giving you a saving of 15%.

It gets even better because this set also coordinates with the Butterfly Thinlets Dies - the possibilities really are endless!

I used a watercolour smooshing technique for the front of the card with Pool Party ink and some of the new thick Whisper White cardstock.

Whilst the card was drying I stamped out the layers of the butterfly using So Saffron, Pool Party and Smoky Slate.  The green and the yellow inks mixed to create a lovely green colour - quite by accident but it was a happy one!

Top Tip: It is much easier if you stamp out the butterfly minus the body, die cut and then stamp the body afterwards.  You can just see in the picture above that I slightly 'missed' the body by not doing this!

I die cut an overlay from vellum using the Butterfly Basic thinlet and accented the wings with some of the lovely new silver metallic thread.  You get 45.7m of this on each reel so I am going to be using lots of it in the future.

Here is the finished card - I was so pleased with it that I decided this would be the card to post to my son's girlfriend to celebrate her birthday this weekend - Happy Birthday Kate (I hope you like it)!

I have a strong suspicion that this card will be fluttering by to make an appearance at a Coffee & Card session very soon or perhaps even a workshop - if you are interested, please contact me for details.
