Zoo Baby!

Hello, I am sharing with you today a very special card I made recently for a very good friend of mine who became a Grandma for the second time last week!

Elliot George Ballantyne was born at 3:21 am on October 13th weighing a mere 9lb 2oz!  I know that this pregnancy has been a difficult and very emotional one for the whole family so I was delighted to hear of Elliot's safe arrival - his big sister Lily is very excited too!

I knew I just had to use Zoo Babies - this is a set I actually purchased in January because I loved it so much but for some reason I have never used it!

One of the (many) things I love about Stampin' Up! products is the way that everything coordinates so well.  I decided to use Sweet Li'l  Things DSP, on the back of the pack is a label that tells you what colours have been used in the papers - brilliant!  I pulled out my matching inks and cardstock and I was off!!!

I first made a rectangular box card for my daughter's 21st birthday in May so I thought it was time to have another go.

I did use Banner Blast (which is a retired stamp set) to create the bunting but you could also use the Banner Punch with some DSP.

I stamped lots of animals and got to work cutting them out.  I stamped the elephant again in Pool Party on a scrap of card and just cut out the ear and I also stamped the lions head in two colours and layered them together.  I initially had some problems with the legs on the animals when it came to sticking them in place - I ended up having to use thin strips of Window Sheet behind them which is fab because you can't see it!

I stamped a panel for the back of the box so that I would have somewhere to write a message:

Here is the finished card with the matching envelope - I love the cheeky giraffe popping his head around the corner of the envelope!

I will probably trim the end of the baker's twine before posting but I was really pleased with how this card turned out.  I will be posting it off to Leeds in the morning in a well padded Jiffy Bag to ensure its safe arrival!

  2. Thanks Bibi - the hardest part was deciding which animals to use! Only when I had finished did I realise I had completely forgotten the Toucan!!
