Stampin' Up! Sea of Textures SBTD 05-18
Hello and welcome to another Stampers by the Dozen Blog Hop. This month our theme is Mothers Day or Fathers Day, chosen by Sharleen.
As Mothers Day is long since passed in the UK - I thought I would go with the masculine option. Cards for the males in our life can be tricky can't they?
I decided to use one of the brand new upcoming stamp sets (available 1st June) called Sea of Textures for my project.
I knew I needed this stamp set as soon as I saw it at On Stage in April - I just had to have it especially when I discovered the Framelits that coordinate with the stamps ...
I have been so busy recently; packing up and moving house has taken all my energy and I have had no time for crafting. I have just managed to finish this project and write this post less than 12 hours before the hop - talk about last minute!
I recently saw a project made by Kim McGillis who is a member of the Stampin' Artisan Design Team. I loved it so much I thought I would recreate a version of her project to share with you, with the odd tweak along the way.
I decided I would add lots of texture and dimension to my project - que the Stampin' Dimensionals!
I used the stamps in Sea of Textures to create a background panel. Stamping on a strip of Whisper White with Early Espresso and Sahara Sand - some of the images were second generation.
I also used the Seaside TIEF with a strip of Soft Sea Foam cardstock - a new colour, avialable from 1st June - love it! I also used a panel of Wood Textures DSP, I tore the edges and curled them upwards to add even more dimension. I am so pleased this lovey DSP will be with us for another year.
Lots layers (and Dimensionals) to add texture and depth to this project.
Top Tip
When using the Tranquil Textures Sprinkles (available 1st June), this multitude of tiny beads proved tricky to stick into place until I used the Fine-Tip Glue, blobbed (technical term) in a little puddle to adhere them.
Did you spot the framelit above with the shoal of fishes? This is my favourite die in the whole set - even more than the octopus!
Of course I kept the tiny fishes - I just need to use them on another project ...
The inside of the card and the envelope were stamped to coordinate too.
Here is the completed card and envelope.
The stamps and framelits I used are part of a brand new suite called Tranquil Textures that will be available from the 1st of June - I have so many ideas for projects using this suite so I am planning a workshop soon!
I had a spare 10 minutes so I made a little video to show off the project.
Thanks for hopping along with us again, next up is Tricia. Don't forget to leave a comment below (we like that). If you get lost along the way you can find a list of all participants in the hop below along with details of the products I used for this project.
Thanks again to Kim for providing the inspiration for this rather hurried post. It was only when I was doing a final check of my post that I realised I had forgotten to use a suitable sentiment for Fathers Day - I hope you will forgive me, this would make a fabulous card for any man, regardless of the sentiment!
Back to the unpacking and sorting out my craft room for me ...
Susan xx
