Floral Essence - Joy Of Sets Tic Tac Toe Challenge #JOSTTT006

Hello and welcome to another Joy of Sets Tic Tac Toe Challenge organised by Fiona Whitehead!  Our challenge this month has been chosen by Sandra Mastello.  I decided to use Thanks, Patterned Paper and Punch.

My project started with the difficult choice of which Designer Series Paper (DSP) to use.  Eventually I settled on the Perennial Essence DSP which is available from the 4th June.  The sheet below is a particular favourite but all the designs are stunning.  I love the exquisite, hand painted imagery.

I chose my colours from some of the ones featured in the DSP above adding Petal Pink as a contrast.

These little boxes are perhaps not the most exciting item in the upcoming Annual Catalogue.

They're mini shipping boxes; they make ideal packaging for small gifts and wrapped goodies and, they are so cute!  I cut a strip of DSP large enough to cover up the Stampin' Up! logo on the front of the box.  I wrapped it around and adhered the ends underneath using Tombow.

I created a tag using the upcoming Delightful Tag Topper punch.  (I used a corner rounder on the bottom of my tag).

I used a flower and leaf image from the Floral Essence stamp set to stamp randomly over the front of the tag using Blamy Blue and Old Olive ink.

Another new item in the Perennial Essence Suite is some 12 x 12 Vellum.  I used the Old Olive and Petal Pink for this project but the pack also includes So Saffron.

I punched out three flowers using the Perennial Flower punch and Petal Pink vellum.  I used my poky tool to curl and shape the edges of each petal.

The flowers were layered together, slightly offsetting each one.  I used one of the rather odd Perennial Essence Floral Centres - they are adhesive backed fuzzy little things.  Don't they look pretty in the centre of the flower?

I then stamped out some of the leaves and punched them out with my leaf punch.  I also punched out some further leaves using the Old Olive Vellum.

After curling and shaping each leaf, I used a tiny dab of Tombow on the ends of each stem and adhered the vellum over the stamped leaf.

Here is the completed tag.  I added some sequins for a bit of sparkle and a simple sentiment (Free As A Bird).  At the very last minute I added an extra leaf underneath the sentiment - I couldn't waste it could I?

I love using vellum in my projects, it is so soft and pretty and I really like the way the light shining through it gives different effects.

Here is the finished box.  I used some of the lovely (new) Petal Pink Organdy Striped Ribbon - its really nice for tying bows with!  The image below shows my second attempt.  My first one was wonderful (honest) but then I realised I had forgotten to put something inside the box!  I used some linen thread to tie the tag to the centre of the bow.

For some reason, I did not tie the ribbon both ways around the box on my second attempt - I did the first time and it looked very pretty.  No Idea what I was thinking ...

Here is another photo taken from above this time.

One of the things I love best about products from Stampin' Up! is the coordination and the ability to make and decorate gifts.  This little box has a special something inside for a special someone who will be celebrating her birthday next month.  If you look through the new Annual Catalogue you will see several of these little boxes decorated in different styles.  I got my inspiration from page 106!  If you don't have a copy and you would like one, just let me know.

Head over the the Joy of Sets Blog to see what the rest of the Design Team have made of this fun challenge HERE.

If you haven't tried a Tic Tac Toe challenge before or a box card why not give it a go; if you are stuck in a rut or suffering from crafter's block you might just find it useful!  You can also enter our challenge and share your project - there is a chance you could be our next guest designer and hop along with us next month!

Details of the products I used for this project can be found below.  When I was compiling details below I could not believe I had used EVERY single item in the Perennial Essence Suite for my project!  Please note that items launching in the upcoming Annual Catalogue will not be available until the 4th June.

Thanks again to Fiona for keeping us DT Members organised and to Sandra for choosing our grid this month.

Happy crafting!

Susan xx
