Christmas Gleaming - quick & simple

Here are the details for our first project this week using the Christmas Gleaming stamp set.

I have to confess I struggled initially with this project but after posing a question on facebook, the addition of a Mint of Macaron strip of card across the front resolved things - thanks ladies!

This project started with my favourite Stitched Shape Dies, Cherry Cobbler and White card.

I used the Hammered Metal 3d Embossing Folder that is part of the Brightly Gleaming Suite to add some texture the Cherry Cobbler circle.

Not the most exciting image but, trust me, emboss a piece of foiled cardstock and WOW!! Its also another of those folders that you can choose to use either side of the embossed card.

I used a sponge dauber and Delicata Gold ink (very gently), to highlight the texture on the Cherry Cobbler die cut.

I also used the Delicata Gold ink for my sentiment.

The Cherry Cobber circle has been adhered with Tombow and the sentiment with dimensionals.

The aforementioned strip of Mint Macaron has been adhered across the front using Tombow.

I used Memento ink to stamp two of the holly boughs onto scrap card and coloured with the Stampin' Blends.

I was aiming for a watercolour ish, haphazard sort of look.  I used the light Mint Macaron pen to draw a very rough outline inside each leaf and coloured in.  Then, using the dark pen I added colour to the veins on each leaf.  No fancy technique required just quick and simple colouring!

I used the same technique for the berries using Cherry Cobbler pens in light and dark.  I drew a rough circle shape inside each berry and then added a dot of the darker colour on the little black dots.  I then fussy cut them out and adhered to the card.

I used one of the dies from Christmas Layers with some gold foil, snipping apart to create 3 or 4 smaller, separate pieces and adhered with dabs of Tombow on the end of each piece.

I also used the Delicata Gold ink for my sentiment.

I also added three of the lovely Gold Glitter Enamel Dots as a finishing touch.

Here is the completed card and envelope.  I stamped a holly spring on the envelope and the inside too.

Yesterday at my Coffee & Cards session I made an alternative version of this project.  I moved the arrangement slightly to the left, did not use the Mint Macaron strip and added a hand drawn frame.

I also used the Delicata Gold ink for my sentiment.

Which version do you prefer?  I used the hand drawn frame technique on our second project for this week.  I used to do this a lot about 6 years ago and I had forgotten how much I like the look.  I have a top tip to share with you on Thursday to make these frames easy to do.

My final Coffee & Cards session this week is on Thursday afternoon - you can find the details HERE.  Why not join me to make a version of this project and another one?  Don't forget to let me know you are coming so I can prepare a kit for you!

Hope you have a crafty week.
