Dressed To Impress - bendy card tutorial
Hello, the card I am sharing today is one that I made to celebrate the birthday of my friend Wendy way back at the beginning of February - seems ages ago now!
I first came across this style card last Christmas when one of my crafty ladies made me this lovely card.
I have no idea what the card fold is called so we will just go with bendy card I think!
I had a bit of a play and tweaked things a little and this is what I came up with.
To create the Dressed To Impress Card Bendy Card
Old Olive 14.8 cm x 10.5 cm score at 7.4 cm - this is the base card
Best Dressed DSP 14.8 cm x 10.5 cm
Old Olive 5cm x 12 cm scored at 1 cm, 6 cm and 11 cm - this in the middle panel
Best Dressed DSP 4.5 cm x 11.5 cm
Old Olive 3 cm x 17.5 cm scored at 1.2 cm on each end - this is the bendy panel
WW 14.3 x 10 cm panel for the back to write on
WW Thick - small pieces
To create the die cut elements
I stamped a selection of images onto thick ww card and cut them out with the coordinating dies. I coloured them with Stampin' Blends using colours shown in the Designer Series Papers. Stamp a sentiment onto a die cut Stitched Rectangle using Blackberry Bliss ink.
The perfume bottle and the lipstick were stamped with Smoky Slate ink. For the 'perfume' I used So Saffron ink, stamped off.
For the other images I used Memento ink.
To assemble the card
Crease all score lines. The base folds inwards and the middle folds out. Tabs go in. Adhere DSP to Old Olive pieces - I used double sided tape.
I used Tombow to adhere the tabs.
Lay the card flat whilst attaching the middle and the bendy part. Line each piece up with the middle fold to ensure everything is aligned properly.
Top Tip
Use a bone folder to gently bow the bendy piece before adhering.
For the reverse panel I stamped some flowers and coloured with the Stampin' Blends and adhered with double sided tape.
Now you can arrange all the die cut elements. I coloured some jewels with a Dark Rich Razzleberry Stampin' Blend pen.
Here is the completed card. I did stamp and colour some flowers on the envelope but, in my haste to get it to the Post Office so it would arrive on time, I forgot to take a photo!
You can have a lot of fun with these bendy cards; making them in different sizes and adding layers in different positions and sizes. Best of all they fold flat to fit into an envelope!
I hope the instructions above make sense, if not let me know! If you have made a bendy style card I would love to see it. I would love you to add a photo to my facebook page so everyone can see it!
Hope everyone is staying safe and well.
Happy crafting.
