Ornate Borders - stepped up

Hello, I have a lovely project to share with you today using the Ornate Borders dies.  Lots of die cutting and just a stamped sentiment.

I love these lacy and floral dies - so many uses/ideas but, as ever, so little time!

Here is my project.

You will need:

21 cm x 14.5 cm Terracotta Tile - scored at 10.5 cm
10 cm x 14 cm ww thick
10 cm x 14 cm ww (regular) for the insert
Terracotta Tile, Old Olive and ww pieces/scraps for die cutting

For the background:
I used the lovely Ornate Floral embossing folder; the depth of detail is stunning and, even better, you can use either side of the embossed piece.  Adhere to the card front using double sided tape.

The sentiment:
I used a piece of thick ww to cut out a Stitched Edge circle and stamped a sentiment from a set called Dandelion Wishes using Early Espresso ink.  Adhere using dimensionals.

The die cutting:
I used the floral border die shown above (3rd one down), cutting out several times with Old Olive and ww card.  If you use strips of card, you can keep these to use on other projects or use like I did on the inside!  Alternatively scrap pieces are fine.

I cut lots of little flowers out using all three flower dies in this set.

To assemble:
I used Tombow to adhere the sprigs around the edge of the sentiment.  I prefer to add tiny dabs along the stem leaving the ends to lift for extra dimension.

Start with Old Olive, alternating the small and large springs around the circle.

Then add the ww sprigs on top, I placed a large spring on top of a small one and vice-versa.

I had intended to use only Old Olive sprigs but I decided they were 'too much' so I cut some ww ones and used those instead.

The flowers:
Adhere two different sized flowers together with a dab of Tombow.  I find it easier to adhere the flowers together before shaping them.

Top Tip
Place the flower in the centre of your palm and press/wiggle with the end of a paper piercing tool.

I made lots of flowers in different colours but finally settled on the Terracotta Tile ones.  I'll save the others to use on future projects.  Adhere the flowers with Tombow and add a Gilded Gem to the centres.

The details:
Remember those strips we used for die cutting?  I used one of them to decorate the inside panel.  You can see that the springs I used for the wreath are in fact the waste parts of the border die!

Here is the completed card and envelope.  I had intended to leave the envelope plain but gave in at the last minute and added a spare flower to one corner.

This card will be on its way to one of my favourite ladies at a local care home.  She is getting quite good at spotting my cards when they arrive!

I think this layout would also be good for a Christmas Card - with a change of embossing folder and sentiment of course!

I'm back at the weekend for a Hopping Around The World Blog hop.

Have a great weekend.

Stay safe and well.
