Beautiful World - Kre8tors Blog Hop

Hello and welcome to another Kre8tors blog hop.  If you are hopping over from Kristie and her fabulous project or starting here with me, welcome. This month our theme is masculine!

I know a lot of crafters struggle with masculine cards - I do too!  So when I saw the World Of Good Suite on page 24 on the new catalogue I was hooked and it flew into my basket!  I wonder how many others on this hop will use the same Suite?

I love all the elements of this Suite, the colours, the patterns and the brass elements too.  There is something here for lots of masculine projects.  Whenever I get my crafty mitts on a new Suite I like to have a play with all the bits and pieces don't you?

Beautiful World, Stampin' Up, World of Good Suite, Craftyduckydoodah,

Here is my project:

Beautiful World, Stampin' Up, World of Good Suite, Craftyduckydoodah,

The colours I used:

21 cm x 14.5 cm Early Espresso - scored at 10.5 cm
10 cm x 14 cm piece of Designer Series Paper (DSP)
14 cm x 3 cm pies of DSP
10 cm x 14 cm vv regular card
Small pieces of Crumb Cake, Early Espresso, Very Vanilla (thick and regular) and Brass foil

The background:
Half way through this project I changed my mind on the orientation of my card.  So, the images below show how I created the background for a portrait card but I am sure you will get the idea!

Take a piece of DSP and randomly stampe the compass image all over using stamped off Soft Suede ink.

I used the wonderful new embossing folder that is part of the World of Good Suite; the Old World Paper 3D Embossing Folder.  I love it; it is my new favourite and I will be using it a lot!

Emboss the stamped panel and then scuff the edges.  I have a nifty little gadget but if you don't have one, use a pair of old scissors instead.  Just look at the fabulous depth and dimension you achieve when you use this folder!

Beautiful World, Stampin' Up, World of Good Suite, Craftyduckydoodah,

Once you have scuffed the edges, use a piece of Stamping Sponge and some Soft Suede ink to ink around all the edges.

When I realised I wanted a landscape card I started another background piece.

After stamping and embossing I adhered a strip of DSP across the bottom with Tombow and then scruffed and inked the edges.

I threaded on one of the cute little buckles that are also part of this suite onto a length of Faux Suede Trim.  I adhered on the reverse with double sided tape.

The die cutting:
I cut out an assortment of pieces using the World Map Dies.  I cut pieces out of various colours before deciding which I liked best.  I used Crumb Cake for the base of the globe, Brass Foil for the details and Early Espresso for the stand.  I also cut out one of these lovely scrolls from the leftover Brass Foil (I didn't want to waste it did I)?

The sentiment:
I used a 2.5 cm x 6 cm piece of thick vv card for the sentiment which has been stamped in Early Espresso ink.  I scuffed and inked the edges as before.

To assemble:
Adhere the background panel and the sentiment to the card base with dimensionals.

Adhere the brass foil detail to the globe with tiny dabs of Tombow.  I used dimensionals behind the globe and at the bottom of the stand.  I used a dab of Tombow to adhere the centre of the stand across the globe.  The little scroll has also been adhered with Tombow.

The details:
Using the piece of regular vv card, stamp a few of the compasses in one corner.  I scuffed and inked the edges as before and adhered with double sided tape.

Completed card and envelope:
I also stamped a few compasses on the envelope but resisted the temptation to ink the corner too!

Next up is Kirsten Gill who I am sure has a fabulous project to inspire you too.  If you get lost along the way a list of participants in this hop can be found below
