Poinsettia Petals - quick & simple

Hello, here are the details for the first project this week using a stamp and die bundle called Poinsettia Petals.

Here is my project:

I love using white space on my projects and this one is right up my street!  I also love scuffed edges - I know not everyone does and you can miss this step out if you prefer.

The colours I used:

You will need:

21 cm x 14.5 cm ww thick - scored at 10.5 cm

10 cm x 14 cm ww thick

Piece of ww thick for stamping and die cutting

The background:

Scuff the edges of the thick ww panel and stamp the sentiment using Memento ink.  I have a scuffing tool but you can use an old pair of scissors instead or even and old nail file if you prefer.

The stamping and die cutting:

Stamp three of the small flowers using Memento ink and cut out with the coordinating die.

The colouring:

I used Cherry Cobbler and Granny Apple Green to colour the images.

I used Cherry Cobbler Dark to colour over the veins on each petal.

Then, using Cherry Cobbler Light I coloured the whole petal using a small circular motion over the darker areas to blend the colours.

I then used Granny Apple Green to colour the leaves using the same technique.  I only coloured the tips of each petal as that is all that will be seen on the finished project.  No point wasting time and ink is there?

To assemble:

Curl and shape the petals to add dimension.  The leaves have been curled under and the petal upwards.

Adhered the two Cherry Cobbler flowers with a dab of Tombow in the centre offsetting the petals.  I used a dimensional to adhere the leaves to the card front and then Tombow to adhere the flower.  I also added one of the lovely Beaded Pearl embellishments to the centre of the flower adhering with a generous amount of Tombow.

The inside/envelope:

I always stamp/die cut extras when I am working on my projects.  I used a spare flower to decorate the inside.  I coloured the centre of the flower with a Mango Melody Stampin' Blend.  I also stamped a flower on the envelope flap and coloured with the Blends.

Top Tip

Don't forget to place a piece of scrap paper under the envelope flap when colouring so that the ink does not bleed through to the front of the envelope.

The completed project:

A very 'me' project was the verdict of my other half when he saw this card.  Clean and simple and quick to create - you could create a batch of these in no time!

Craftyduckydoodah, Poinsettia Petals, Stampin' Up, Christmas 2020,

I have another Poinsettia Petals project to share later this week - it's a long DL card that has a slight vintage/shabby chic feel to it.

Have a crafty week!
