Poinsettia Petals - stepped up

Here are the details for the second project this week using the Poinsettia Petals stamp and die bundle, the DSP and the gorgeous Plush Poinsettia Speciality Paper which is indeed plush and very strokeable!

Here is my project:

This is a lovely, long and elegant DL card and, one I think will be perfect for my Aunty Doreen - another card ticked off the list!!

The colours I used:

You will need:

21 cm x 21 cm ww thick - scored at 10.5 cm

20 cm x 9.5 cm Designer Series Paper (DSP)

Sheet of Poinsettia Place DSP for die cutting

21 xm x 1.5 cm strip of DSP (1 for the inside, one for the envelope)

20 cm x 5 cm Plush Poinsettia Speciality Paper

Small piece of ww thick for die cutting

The background:

I scuffed the edges of the piece of DSP and then added some Soft Suede ink to soften the white core of the paper. Adhere to the card blank with Tombow.

The die cutting/fussy cutting:

You will need to cut out the elements below from the sheet of DSP. The good news is that the largest flower and the three berry sprigs all have coordinating dies! You will need to fussy cut the partial flowers but they are very easy to cut out.

The sentiment:

I used my favourite Stitched Shape dies to cut a rectangle from thick ww card. I stamped the sentiment using Memento ink and then added some Soft Suede ink around the edges.

Top Tip

Adding any brown ink to card creates a pretty vintage/shabby chic look.

To assemble:
Adhere the piece of Plush Speciality paper to the card front, I used Stampin' Seal. Curl and shape the petals of the flowers. Adhere the smaller of the two partial flowers to the side of the sentiment panel with Tombow and then adhere the sentiment with dimensionals.

The second flower has also been adhered with Tombow.

Add the larger die cut flower with dimensionals. I adhered the berry sprigs with dabs of Tombow on the ends of the stems, tucking them underneath the flowers to add dimension.

The inside:

I used a 1.5 cm strip of DSP scuffing and inking the edges as I did for the card front. Adhere to the inside with Tombow. I also added another partial flower, again adhered with Tombow for a coordinated look tucking under the edge of the DSP.

The completed project:

I decorated the envelope, unfortunately an non SU one in the same way as the inside but somehow lost the envelope just when I needed to photograph it!

I love this card - perhaps it is the length of it that is different to the usual sized cards I make but I do think it is very elegant!

Craftyduckydoodah, Poinsettia Petals, Stampin' Up, Christmas 2020,

My craft room (and the entire house) is in a state of upheaval due to building work that is behind schedule. I would have like to add some Shimmery Crystal Effects to the berries but unfortunately I couldn't find any.

This is such a lovely Stamp and die bundle - it's so versatile and I will be using a lot more in the run up to Christmas.

I am hosting my second Paper Pumpkin Zoom Party on Saturday. I still have a couple of kits left at just £20 each. The 2 hour workshop is free to attend and I will be sharing lots of hints, tips and samples to help you get the most out of the kit. It will be lovely to 'meet' up, craft and chat with everyone again - don't forget your cuppa! If you would like to join us please let me know asap.

Details of the products I used for this project can be found at the end of the post.

Have a crafty weekend!
