If you have hopped over from Laura or are starting here with me I hope you enjoy all our projects using this brand new suite of products that are available now ahead of the launch of the upcoming Annual Catalogue.

These lovely butterflies and pretty colours are stunning!  Choose from glorious butterfly patterns in shades of aqua, pink and yellow or watercolour patterns that coordinate beautifully - you just can't go wrong with these pretty patterns.

When I got the idea for this project it was going to look very different.  I cut out lots of detailed butterflies from black card intending to adhere them on top of the stamped images but I changed my mind at the last minute!

Here is my project:

The colours I used:

I listed the colours from the DSP that feature on the die cut butterflies; the Smoky Slate card base makes a change from my usual white.

You will need:

29 cm x 10.5 cm Smoky Slate - scored at 14.5 cm and 17 cm

11.5 cm x 10 cm Basic White Thick (BWT) front

10 cm x 2 cm BWT

11.5 cm x 10 cm BWT insert

The stamping:

I used my Stamparatus to stamp the butterflies onto one of the BWT panels with Memento ink.  This is such a large stamp and the Stamparatus makes stamping with it so much easier.

The die cutting:

The large butterfly die matches perfectly with one of the sheets of the Butterfly Bijoux DSP.

Top Tip #1:
For large dies like this I always use pieces of washi tape to hold the die securely in place.  Dies can 'slip' sometimes and it would be a shame to waste a piece of this lovely DSP!

To assemble:

I used Tombow on the card base along the 2.5 cm score line section.  I have no idea what this card fold is called or, even if it has a name.  If you know, please let me know!

Wrap a piece of ribbon around the small piece of BWT adhering on the back with double sided tape.

Curl and shape the butterflies and adhere on top of the stamped images using tiny dabs of Tombow along the bodies only.  Trim off any overhanging pieces.

I used dimensionals to adhere the small panel and the stamped panel to the front of the card.

The details:

I used lots of the lovely Matte Black Dots to accent the body on each butterfly - they look so pretty that I simply could not help myself!

The inside:

I used a lovely little sentiment from a stamp set called Enjoy the Moment, stamped with Memento ink onto the second panel of BWT.  I then used up a couple of the remaining die cut butterflies to bring the project together.  They have been adhered with Tombow and the overhanging ends trimmed off.  I also used Tombow to adhere the panel to the inside of the card.

From above:

I hope you can see from this photo all the depth and dimension on the card and the effect you achieve by adhering the edge of the card base.  I love that you can still see the detailed stamped images behind the coloured butterflies.

The envelope:

I used another die cut butterfly to decorate the flap on the envelope.  The butterfly has been partially adhered with Tombow.

Top Tip #2:

Think about where you place the glue on the butterfly otherwise you won't be able to add the card to the envelope!

The completed project:

These lovely butterflies offer lots of creative opportunities and can be coloured with many different mediums.  I have so many ideas fluttering around in my mind (including a couple of home decor porjects) - I just need time to turn them into projects!
