Flowering Rain Boots - Ink Stamp Share
Hello and welcome to another Ink Stamp Share Blog Hop! This month we have a colour challenge and I will be using a soon to be retiring bundle called Flowering Rain Boots for my project.
Here is my project:
You will need:
21 cm x 14.5 cm Basic White Thick (BWT) scored at 10.5 cm
6 cm x 14 cm Melon Mambo
14 cm x 2 cm BWT
14 cm x 6 cm BWT
10 cm x 14 cm Melon Mambo
9.5 cm x 13.5 cm Basic White
Small pieces of BWT for stamping/die cutting
The background:
I used my favourite embossing folder Tasteful Textiles to emboss the panel of Melon Mambo card. I love the texture this folder creates and have used it a lot.
The stamping and die cutting:
I used all three challenge colours to stamp a watering can, leaves and some Tulips. All the pieces have been cut out with the coordinating dies.
The sentiment:
I stamped the sentiment using Smoky Slate ink in the top corner of the larger panel. The challenge allowed the use of black but when I stamped the sentiment using Memento it looked too harsh - I hope you will forgive the use of Smoky Slate ink.
To assemble:
Adhere the Melon Mambo card to the front of the card using Tombow.
I then used lots of dimensionals to adhere the two BWT panels, taking care to align them carefully.
I used Tombow to adhere the leaves and used dimensionals to adhere the watering can and the Tulips.
Top Tip #1:
Think about the gap! Only place dimensionals on the tulips that will sit on the BWT card!
At this point I decided something was missing from my project - the water drops from the watering can. After all, what is the point of a watering can without water? As there is no image for water drops in this stamp set I thought about adding some with a Stampin' Write marker but then I remembered there were some raindrops in Rainbow of Happiness so I used those with Smoky Slate ink, stamping off first for a softer look.
Top Tip #2:
It is much easier to stamp the raindrops before adhering the background!!
The inside/envelope:
I stamped some Tulips in the corner of the BW panel and then adhered this to the Melon Mambo panel using Tombow and adhered to the inside of the card. I also stamped on the envelope.
Spot the deliberate mistake (I fixed it of course but you get the idea)!
The completed project:
One challenge card completed using all three colours!
The details:
As a finishing touch I added some of the lovely Brushed Brass Butterflies. I am so pleased these will still be available in the upcoming Annual Catalogue!
Confession:
I was not keen on the Melon Mambo watering can so I stamped another card and used Smoky Slate for the watering can. What do you think? I can't decide but at least I have two cards ready to send out!
