Sea of Textures - stepped up
Here are the details for our second project this week using a stamp set called Sea of Textures. I used this set last year for a workshop pretty soon after it became available last June. Not sure why I haven't used it again since then but it has certainly proved very popular this week!
Tunnel cards are great fun to make and can be made in all sorts of sizes and shapes. I love that they offer extra dimension and so many possibilities for using stamps you perhaps already own in new and exciting ways!
Recipe
2 x 6 1/4 X 5 1/2" pieces of thick Whisper White (thick)
Score both pieces on the longer edge at 1/2" and 1" on both sides
I also cut a piece of Whisper White measuring 4 X 4 1/2" and embossed it using the Seaside TIEF and adhered the inside panel.
I used the Layering Ovals to cut an oval across the front of the card and a second oval slightly smaller to cut a frame from Smoky Slate card.
Using a selection of die cut pieces you can now have fun arranging and creating your scene. I adhered pieces on the front and the inside of the 'tunnel' to create lots of depth and dimension using a mix of Tombow and Dimensionals.
You can just see a shoal of tiny fishes in the background between the waves. I used the Take Your Pick Tool and the Fine-Tip Adhesive as they are rather fiddly!
Once you have decorated your panels you can crease and adhere the side sections. I used Tombow - gluing and aligning one side before adding glue to the other - much easier and less messier this way!
I resisted the temptation to stamp on the front of the card as this one will for my son; he likes un fussy cards!
The back of the card (and the envelope) has been stamped to coordinate.
Here is the completed card and envelope.
I did however create an alternate version of this card - stamping on the front makes it look very different!
My crafty ladies on Tuesday came up with lots of lovely variations too - I knew they wouldn't let me down!! Don't they look amazing?
I think I will be making lots more tunnel cards in the future - perhaps one with a flamingo ....
Thanks to everyone who joined me this week, details of the items I used for this project can be found at the end of the post. Next week we will be using a stamp set and Thinlits bundle called Beauty Abounds.
I'm back again at the weekend taking part in another Joy Of Sets Tic Tac Toe Challenge - we have a super grid for you this month. Anyone can join the challenges; you might even get a chance to be our guest designer the following month too!
Have a crafty weekend.
