Flight Of Fancy - Hopping Around The World
Hello, and welcome to another Hopping Around The World Blog Hop. If you have hopped over from my crafty friend Mo Rootes or you are starting here with me, we have lots of inspiration to share with you this month.
Our theme this month is Halloween - not something we are big on in the uk but I'm always up for a challenge!
I decided to use a stamp set called Flight Of Fancy for my project. I've had this stamp set on my shelf for some time but not had the opportunity to use it until now. It's a versatile set and I will be playing with the Christmas Angel very soon too.
I love theses whimsical images, they are so cute. I decided to make my project using a softer and prettier colour pallette than is usual for Halloween cards.
Here is my project:
The colours I used:
You will need:
21 cm x 14.5 cm ww thick - scored at 10.5 cm
14 cm x 10 cm ww thick
14 cm x 10 cm Gorgeous Grape
13.5 cm x 9.5 cm ww regular card for the inside
4 cm x 6 cm ww regular card for the mask
Small piece of ww thick for the witch
Scrap of vellum
The frame:
I used my favourite Stitched Edge Rectangle dies to create a frame. I used the first, largest die and the third sized one with the panel of ww thick.
The background:
I used the 4 cm x 6 cm piece of ww card and punched a 1 1/2" circle from the centre to create a mask. Keep the circle, you will need it later!
Place the mask on the smallest die cut rectangle and create a moon using a Sponge Dauber and So Saffron ink.
Next, place the punched circle over the moon and using Gorgeous Grape ink create the sky. I swirled the ink around the moon using sweeping circles.
I used a lovely tree image from a stamp set called Life Is Beautiful. I wanted a really back, intense image so I used my Stamparatus and stamped the tree a couple of times using Memento ink. Such a shame my tree is wonky!
The stamping:
I used Memento ink to stamp the little witch on ww thick card and coloured with Stampin' Blends and fussy cut out. I snipped off the swooshy trails at the end of the broom.
I was also tempted to snip off what I think is the tail on the mouse - I think it looks a little odd! What do you think?
To assemble:
Adhere the white frame with Foam Adhesive Strips. The inked and stamped panel has been adhered with Tombow.
Adhere the vellum piece to the broom using Tombow and then adhere the witch to the panel using dimensionals.
I added a little sparkly glitter to the wand and hat and also some of the little star sequins that can be found with the snowflake sequins adhering with tiny dabs of Tombow.
The inside/envelope:
Using the piece of regular ww card I used the punched mask again to create a moon and stamped the tree silhouette as before. Adhere the panel to the Gorgeous Grape panel with double side tape and then adhere to the inside of the card again using double sided tape. The envelope was also been stamped to coordinate.
The completed project:
I showed this card to a friend during an online chat last week and she loved it so, I will be sending to her very soon as a surprise.
I hope you like my cute little witch, next up is Maureen Rauchfuss from the USA who I am sure has a great project to share with you. Details of the products I used for my project can be found below.
Thanks for hopping along with!
