Dragonfly Garden - Crafty Challenge Blog Hop

Hello and welcome to another Crafty Challenge Blog Hop.  This month we have a sketch challenge - I will be using Dragonfly Garden for my project.

If you have hopped over from Rachel Yurkanin in the USA or are starting here with me at Craftyducky HQ, welcome and thanks for hopping around with us.

This is the sketch that we are working with this month.  Coincidentally this is my second sketch challenge this week.  Sketches are great when you need kicking out out your comfort zone and even better when you are stuck for inspiration!

Craftydukcydoodah, Stampin' Up, Dragonfly Garden, Crafty Challenge Blog Hop,
I am using a lovely stamp set for my project called Dragonfly Garden.  There is something magical about dragonflies isn't there?  I love to see them flying around the riverside where I live - the colours are stunning.

Craftyduckydoodah, Stampin' Up, Dragonfly Garden, Crafty Challenge Blog Hop,

I was very pleased when I learnt that this lovely stamp set and the punch will be with us for another year.  I have lots of projects in mind - all I need is more time to craft.

Here is my project:

Craftyduckydoodah, Stampin' Up, Dragonfly Garden, Crafty Challenge Blog Hop,
21 cm x 10.5 cm Basic White Thick (BWT) - scored at 10.5 cm
10cm x 14 cm Bermuda Bay
9 cm x 13 cm Basic White
14 cm x 5 cm BWT
BWT for punching and die cutting

The stamping and colouring:
Stamp the flowers onto the 5 cm panel of BWT using Memento ink.  I coloured the flowers with my water colour pencils - not used these for absolutely ages. I then went over the colouring using a blender pen to smooth out any pencil lines.  I love these pens, they are filled with a specialised solution so you can blend with ease.

I also stamped one of these lovely dragonflies using Memento ink and again coloured with the watercolour pencils.  I blended my colouring with a blender pen and then went over the top with Wink of Stella. Punch out with the coordinating punch.

Top tip:
Make sure to swipe the pen clean between colours on a piece of scrap paper otherwise the colours will look muddy.  If you use WoS you will need to clean this too.

The sentiment:
Die cut a circle from BWT and stamp the sentiment with Memento ink.  This lovely sentiment is from a set called Hand-Penned Petals that will be available from the 4th May.

Craftyduckydoodah, Stampin' Up, Dragonfly Garden, Crafty Challenge Blog Hop,

To assemble:
Adhere one of the Bermuda Bay pieces to the front of the card using double sided tape.  Adhere the stamped flower panel with dimensionals.  The sentiment has been adhered with dimensionals on the right hand side and a dab of Tombow on the left.  Curl and shape the wings on the dragonfly and adhere with Tombow on the body only.  I am using the heart shaped wings of the Dragonfly to represent the hearts on the challenge sketch - look at the Dragonfly sideways and you will see what I mean!!

The inside/envelope:
Adhere the remaining Bermuda Bay piece with double sided tape.  I stamped a partial image on the BW panel using Memento ink and coloured as above with the watercolour pencils, adhering with double sided tape.

I also stamped the envelope to coordinate but decided not to colour the flowers.

Finishing touch:
Adhere three sparkly jewels along the outside edge of the sentiment to complete the sketch challenge.

The completed project:
I have just the person in my mind to send this card to.  One of my team at work did something amazing on Friday, I am so proud of her - never underestimate the power of wearing lipstick! This card is perfect for her.

Next up is Lorraine Tierney from the USA, I can't wait to see what she has made using this sketch!

Thanks for hopping along with us.

Thank you so much for looking at my Blog today.  Unfortunately I am no longer a Stampin' Up! Demonstrator.  SU regulations are very strict; I have to wait 3 whole months before I can rejoin again.

If you need to order any supplies, just let me know and I will put you in touch with my crafty friend who kindly agreed to look after my lovely customers until I can become a demonstrator again.

If you would like a copy of either of the current Annual Catalogue or the current Mini Catalogue let me know and I will arrange for one to be popped in the post for you.  The new Annual Catalogue will also be available soon, let me know if you would like my friend to send you a copy.
