Stampin' Up! Special Reason

Hello, you know how sometimes when you need a card in a hurry coming up with a suitable card can be soooo hard!  I promised myself I would be more organised this year .... I really must try harder.  Its my Mum's birthday today and I will have to post her card as she lives in Leeds.

I knew I wanted to use a stamp set that has been sat on my craftroom windowsill since November called Special Reason.

My starting point had to be to tidy up my desk - it has been a busy few weeks since Christmas.  As I was collecting up some ink pads it occurred to me that they looked nice together ...

I did have to make one slight change - the yellow I had out was So Saffron which has been used rather a lot lately and needed re-inking.  Unfortunately I can't seem to find  my re-inker so I went with Daffodil Delight instead.

After stamping and cutting a variety of flowers and leaves I started to arrange the various pieces on my card front.

This particular framelits set is really versatile.  You can cut a sihouette like I did on the Night of Navy layer or you can add the outside edge die and cut out the yellow flower too.

On the first version (above) I used a narrow border of DSP and on the second version (below) I used a slightly wider strip of DSP but I also scuffed the edges and moved the leaves around a little.

As I was running out of time to catch the post I went with the second version but whilst writing this post I think I would prefer the DSP strip to be a little thinner.

Here is the completed card, I  made it to the post box with just 5 minutes to spare!

I spoke to my Mum this morning and thankfully, she loved her card!  I showed the card to some of my crafty ladies on Monday morning - I have a feeling this particular card will be making an appearance at a Coffee and Card session very soon!
