Stampers by the Dozen Blog Hop #001

Hello, and welcome to the very first Stampers by the Dozen blog hop!  We are a group of 12 Stampin' Up! Demonstrators from around the world who will be hopping once a month.

I have been wanting to take part in a blog hop for several months now so, when this opportunity arose I jumped at it!

For our first hop the brief was to focus on items that we had been able to pre order from the upcoming Autumn / Winter Catalogue.

For me, it was an obvious choice as soon as I saw page 48 of the Autumn / Winter catalogue and the new Painted Autumn Suite.  Bold water coloured images in beautiful autumnal colours - absolutely stunning!

I have always had a bit of a thing for sunflowers - in fact one of the very first stamps I bought almost 28 years ago was this sunflower stamp!

Things have moved on a lot since then but I still love sunflowers and don't think I will ever part with this particular stamp!

The stamps I used are from a set called Painted Harvest (item 144783 - £19) and the coordinating Leaf Punch (item 144667 - £14.50).  These two items are available as a bundle for just £30 = 10% saving!

I decided I would attempt a fairly shabby chic look as I have someone special in mind for this card - here are the colours I decided to use.

I created a background for my card front with some Early Espresso card stock. Now for some strange reason I used Chocolate Chip ink to stamp the leaves around the edges - odd when I have the Early espresso ink but hey ho!

Using stamps as a border to create a background is quick and simple to do. There is some absolutely stunning Designer Series Paper in this suite but I could not quite bring myself to cut into just yet as I am still admiring it - I think I might be a DSP hoarder ...

The Crushed Curry was an obvious choice for the sunflowers - can you see the depth and dimension of the stamped images?  I love the mottled texture; this is achieved using two step stamping for the flowers and the leaves.  I punched the leaves out with the matching punch and used my poky tool to curl and shape each leaf.  I fussy cut the flower and shaped the centre a little (pressing with my thumb) before adhering on top of another stamped flower with a Stampin' Dimensional.

I used a stamping sponge and some Cake ink to give an aged look to the card stock and the envelope inking in a circular movement around the edges.  I then stamped the leaves using both stamps in Crumb Cake and added some dotty splodges in Garden Green ink.  Hopefully you can see this clearly on the envelope, I added an additional piece of card to the inside decorated in the same way.

I used some of the new Jute Twine (item 144625 - £5) across the front of my card and then I had one of my usual dilemmas with the card - to add a bow or not?  After leaving the card overnight, I added a bow!

Here is the completed card and envelope.
