Geared Up Garage - Joy of Sets Tic Tac Toe Challenge #JOSTTT001
Having never taken part in a Tic Tac Toe challenge before the prospect was quite exciting - the hardest part was making a decision as to which line on the grid below I would use!
I decided to use Silver, Birthday and Ribbon and some new goodies that arrived before Christmas that I had not had chance to play with yet from the Classic Garage Suite.
I was so excited to discover that the thinlits in this bundle are the perfect size for the Designer Series Paper too!
Look what I managed to cut from just one piece of 6" x 6" DSP.
I do like white card bases and white layers . To make my project, I die cut the gears from a piece of Whisper White and then added a layer of Basic Black behind. I then adhered this panel to my card using Dimensionals.
I then carefully placed Mini Dimensionals and pieces of 'waste' dimensional that I snipped from around the edge of the sheet to the back of the gears and then adhered carefully over the black card outline.
I used some of the new black/silver ribbon (silver being the second part of the challenge), behind the sentiment; two crossed pieces placed at a jaunty angle.
I stamped this sentiment several times and was a bit worried that the words were not stamping very well. However, after checking the front of the box I realised they were supposed to look like that - doh!
I used the tiny metal spanner (how cute is this?) as the silver part of the challenge.
The Happy Birthday sentiment is from a set called Amazing Life and was the final element of this challenge.
I was so pleased with all the die cut pieces I 'made' from the DSP that I decorated the inside of the card and the envelope with them and still had leftover pieces to use on a future project.
Here is the completed card and envelope.
... but, then, when I was tidying my desk I found one of the thinlits had fallen out of the packet and that I did, in fact, have a die that fit the last gear - hurrah!
I don't know why but I can sometimes struggle with cards for men, do you? However, I had so much fun with the Geared Up Garage bundle and I have lots and lots of ideas floating around in my head that I think I will ok for quite some time!
Thanks to Fiona for organising us with this great challenge; we will be back next month with another Tic Tac Challenge for you.
I hope you have enjoyed my project; I always enjoy reading what you think of my projects and I would love you to leave a comment below.
Head over the the Joy of Sets Blog to see what the rest of the Design Team have made of this fun challenge HERE.
If you haven't tried a Tic Tac Toe challenge before why not give it a go; if you are stuck in a rut or suffering from crafter's block you might just find it useful!
Happy crafting.

Such a great card Susan and I love the colours you've used for the gears.
ReplyDeleteThank you Fiona - love that you can cut all the coloured gears from a single sheet of DSP!
DeleteCogs are great. Love the way you have inset them in the card. Great idea x
ReplyDeleteThanks Jane - I was really pleased with all the cogs I got from the DSP! xx
DeleteSuch a fun card, Susan.
ReplyDeleteThanks Angie.
DeleteLove this and am in awe of the time and effort you put in. Also this was an immediate not interested suite for me when I looked through the new offering but now I'm kind of seeing it in a new light and that's what I love about challenges which involve demonstrators... so much inspiration.
ReplyDeleteThank you Andrea. I'm almost embarassed to say that this card came together so quickly (I was short on time as usual). xx
DeleteI love that you did a masculine card with the bored and thought outside the box. well done.
ReplyDeleteThank you Kaylin.
DeleteSuch a great card, so unusual and so many possibilities for using this suite x
ReplyDeleteThank you - as you say so many possibilities. If I only had more time!
