All That You Are

I needed a card in a hurry this week - I have been plagued by cluster migraines recently and I am a bit behind myself despite my best intentions!

One of my lovely team members, Maggie celebrated her birthday on Tuesday and I only had an hour before I had to be somewhere else to make something for her.

I saw a project a few weeks ago designed by Emma Goddard that gave me an idea ... you can see Emma's post HERE.

Emma stamped and coloured her image on Sahara Sand card but I decided to stamp the images onto Smoky Slate as I know that Maggie has recently had a new kitchen and her colour scheme is grey and yellow.

Here are the colours I used.

I swiped the Embossing Buddy over a piece of Smoky Slate cardstock before stamping this gorgeous image with Versamark ink.

I then used some white embossing powder and set with my heat tool.

I coloured the image with water colour pencils adding shade as I went along.

I used the pencil colours shown above along with Calypso Coral and Granny Apple Green.

I then used a Blender Pen.  These clever dual tipped pens contain a specialised solution that makes blending colours a doddle!

The tip of the pen cleans off with just a stroke or two onto scrap paper so you don't need different pens for each colour.

I used a a die from a set called Be Mine Stitched Framelits to create a decorative border.

I wrapped some coordinating ribbon around the border before adhering with foam adhesive strip across the front of the card.

The Smoky Slate panel was adhered to the card base with Dimensionals and as a finishing touch, I added some jewels for a bit of sparkle!

I used the same floral image and some Smoky Slate ink to stamp on the inside of the card and the envelope.

Here is Maggie with her card - we had a lovely crafty afternoon and, we had cake to go with our Coffee & Cards session too!  I even managed to find a coordinating gift bag which was a very happy accident.

If you haven't tried stamping and colouring with water colour pencils onto coloured card before you should give it a go - you might be surprised at the results like I was!  Thanks again to Emma for providing the inspiration.

Thanks to everyone who joined me this week for a crafty coffee, I am back at the weekend hopping again with Stamp 'N' Hop - this month our theme is 'all about love'!

Have a crafty weekend.

Susan xx
