Humming Along - CASE the catty!
Our first project this week uses a stamp set called Humming Along and is my interpretation of the card shown on page 36 of the Spring / Summer Catalogue.
This lovely bird is the reason why I bought this stamp set. I actually thought the card shown had been made with embossing paste and a stencil. I was really chuffed to discover there was a die that could achieve this effect very easily and, without any mess!
So I decided the CASE the catty this week! The Stampin' Up! Catalogues are a fantastic source of inspiration - perfect for when you need an injection of crafty mojo.
We started with a piece of water colour paper 5mm smaller than the card base. We used an aqua painter and clean water to dampen the card and then added some Balmy Blue ink and watched the magic happen. I love creating backgrounds in this way - you are never quite sure what you are going to end up with!
We then set the background aside to dry for a few minutes before running it through the Big Shot.
We used Memento ink to stamp the bird and cut him out with the coordinating Framelit.
We used the Stampin' Blends to colour him in. If you wished you could also add some Wink of Stella to the bird ... (I resisted)!
The sentiment has been stamped on a piece of Balmy Blue card with the same colour ink.
We used some of Old Olive Linen Thread, wrapping it around one end three times and then tying a smaller piece in a knot in the centre. The ends have been frayed to add texture and dimension.
Jewels were added in two different sizes for a touch of sparkle.
I used the piece that was die cut from the front of the card to decorate the inside (I couldn't bring myself to waste this piece)!
Here is the completed card - not too girly/sparkly so you could give this card to a man ... perhaps without the jewels?
I have two further C & C sessions this week, if you would like to join me to make this card and another project, you can all find the details here. Don't forget that if you place a £25 plus order on Thursday you can craft for free!
Details of the products I used for this project can be found below. As I mentioned above, the Humming Along stamp set and Hummingbird Framelits Dies are available as a bundle which = a 10% saving for £39.50. Add a little something else to an order to get the total to £45 and you can choose a Sale-A-Bration item of your choice for free!
Hope you can join me for a crafty coffee soon.
