Snow Front - part 2
Hello, I took part in a blog hop at the weekend with Joy Of Sets using a stamp set called Snow Front.
I promised I would share details of how I made my card, so here they are - be warned, it is a photo heavy post!
Measurements
Card Base - Tranquil Tide, 22.5 x 10.5 cm scored at 3.5 and 7 cm on each side.
Background - Water colour paper 20 x 10 cm. After brayering and stamping, cut panels at 3cm, 6 cm, 14 cm and 17cm.
Sentiment Strip - Water colour paper 15.5 x 1.5 cm
I used a sponge brayer to add colour to my background down the around the half-way point using gentle sweeping motions from left to right.
Using an aqua painter, I flicked the nib against the lid to splatter the panel. I left the water for a few seconds to give the ink chance to reactivate. I then dabbed the water off with a tissue to create a snow effect.
Next came the stamping! I used an assortment of images to create my scene. there is an image with a group of trees: I used my Stampin' Write Markers to ink the stamps.
Top Tip
Clean the stamp before re inking so you don't contaminate the colours of your Stampin' Write Markers.
The images in Snow Front are just brilliant for creating little scenes.
I stamped a large tree using Early Espresso ink and added a little cabin using Pretty Peacock ink. I used Smoky Slate ink to add the snow drifts.
The cut panels were then adhered to the card base with Tombow.
Top Tip
I find it easier to add the panels and then crease the score lines of the card base.
I used a Stampin' Chalk Marker to add snow the the stamped tree; just a dab where the twigs join the branches.
The stamp used for the sentiment is from a set called Snowman Season and it has been stamped in Pretty Peacock ink.
To adhere the sentiment panel add glue to the bottom of the left hand panel and place the sentiment strip. Take care to align accurately. Then fold in the right hand side panels and add glue as before. The sentiment strip should now line up perfectly.
I stamped another panel so that I could write on the back of the card.
Can you see that the area between the two colours above is sort of smooshed around? This was as a result of my cleaning the stamp and not drying it properly. It was then I remembered why I was using water colour paper! It was my intention to smoosh the images with an aqua painter and I completely forgot. Hey ho, I will just have to make another card!
As usual, I stamped the envelope too.
So my project was finished but it was missing something, I felt it looked a little bare.
So, I added two die cut Early Espresso trees cut from a die in a set called In The Woods using the Chalk Marker as before.
As a finishing touch I used the Fine-Tip Glue pen along the snow drifts and sprinkled with the Ice Stampin' Glitter.
Now, you may be wondering will this card fit in a standard C6 envelope. Well, it does! (The right hand panels are folded in and the left flat).
I Hhope all this makes sense, I really must look into doing videos soon! If you have any question or you get stuck, feel free to contact me and I will do my best to help you out.
Happy crafting!
