Best Dressed Suite for the Kre8tors Blog Hop

Hello, I am delighted to be joining for the first time the Kreators blog hop. Our challenge this month is to use items from the Spring / Summer and Sale-A-Bration catalogues.

There were many items  I could not wait to get my hands on from the new catalogue but right at the top of the list were items from the Best Dressed Suite of products.

Can you see the little handbag on the right of the photo?  I love handbags and have a lot of them and, I knew I needed to make one of these straight away so, I did!

This little bag was so quick and easy to put together and only used two of the 6" x 6" Designer Series Paper and some off cuts of Lovely Lipstick card stock.

The clever handbag die cuts and scores with just one pass through the Big Shot.  I used double sided tape to adhere each side of the bag and Tombow for the flaps on the bottom.

I adhered the handles with Tombow too.  The little pocket has been adhered with Foam Adhesive Strips placed around the edges so you can pop a little something into the pocket.

I then decided to make another bag this time using Lovely Lipstick card stock.

Here are all the pieces you will need to cut.  I used scraps of silver foil for the buckles and the button.

The more observant amongst you might spot that I only cut two buckles when in fact, you need four!

I then decided to emboss my handbag with the Tufted embossing folder.

Top Tip #1
Before embossing the card stock I found it easier to crease the folds first so that they don't get 'lost' in the embossed pattern.

Place one of the pieces in the embossing folder.

Top Tip #2, #3 & #4
You will need to fold the larger bottom flap so that you can fit the die cut piece in the folder.

Make sure you align carefully; I choose to align the left hand side edge with the little nobbly section in between the quilted diamond shapes.

When embossing the second piece make sure you place it in the same position as the first piece otherwise you will end up with a 'wonky' pattern on the handbag once it is assembled.

Once assembled, you can have lots of fun adding the finishing touches.

Top Tip #5
Before attaching the handles curve each piece slightly with a bone folder for a neater finish.

Here is my finished handbag complete with silver buckles - very smart!

You can fit all sorts of things into these little bags, I have seen so many different ideas on Pinterest too.  Backpacks/rucksacks and little tab closures - so many ideas, so little time.

I went on to make three little cards to fit inside one of the bags - I'll share more details of them next week.
