Lovely Lily Pad - Joy Of Sets Tic Tac Toe Challenge #JOSTTT013

Hello and welcome to the first Joy Of Sets Tic Tac Toe Challenge for 2020!  I have also just realised that today is our first Anniversary.  To celebrate we have a £25 voucher up for grabs so this is definitely the month to join in with our challenge, see below for details!  Our grid this month has been chosen by Libby Fens.

I decided to use Lace, Floral and Pink for my challenge.

I knew straight away which stamp set I was going to use for this project which is unusual for me.  Its a brand new stamp and die bundle called Lovely Lily Pad and both the stamps and the coordinating dies are available for free as part of Sale-A-Bration.  The stamps are reversible and this is the first time I have used this style of stamps.

Here are the colours I used for my project.

I used the Corrugated embossing folder with a piece of thick ww card slightly smaller than my card base.

I then cut out several flowers using Lovely Lipstick card for the pink and the floral element of this challenge.

I cut the solid background pieces of the flowers from Sparkle Glimmer Paper.  However, there was not enough of a contrast for the flowers.

One Aqua Painter and some Lovely Lipstick ink later and I had some rather lovely flowers.

When you first add the ink to the glimmer paper the colour is very intense and quite alarming.  However after a short while the colour fades as it dries leaving a soft a pretty sparkly pink.

Top Tip
Use the end of a poky tool to hold down each piece as you add the ink.  It will save you from having Lovely Lipstick stained finger nails - not a good look!

I then cut out a stem and some leaves and assembled with Tombow.  I only adhered the stems so that I could curl and shape the leaves slightly to add some dimension.

I then glued the Lovely Lipstick die cut to the glimmer paper, again using tiny dabs of Tombow.  The flower head has been adhered with a dimensional.

This lovely little sentiment is from a stamp set called New Wonders and has been stamped in Memento onto a piece of card measuring 1.5 cm wide.  I snipped the ends and adhered to the stem with dimensionals.

For the lace element of the challenge I added a simple knotted piece of Whisper White Polka Dot Tulle adhered with a mini glue dot.  It proved rather difficult to photograph but I'm sure you get the idea!

Three jewels added a final sparkly touch.

Not much stamping on this project so I decided to add some stamped images to the inside of the card and the envelope using a simple masking technique.

I have to confess that my project did not turn out how I intended it to at all!  Does that happen to you sometimes too?

I initially cut out lots of flowers and had intended to create a cluster in the centre of the card but when it came to sticking things down I changed my mind.  I will just have to come up with another project to use them up.  I have a feeling these stamps and dies might be making an appearance at a Coffee & Cards Session soon!

Why not head over the the Joy of Sets Blog to see what the rest of the Design Team have made of this fun challenge HERE there are some lovely projects this month!

If you haven't tried a Tic Tac Toe challenge before or a box card why not give it a go; if you are stuck in a rut or suffering from crafter's block you might just find it useful!  You can also enter our challenge and share your project - there is a chance you could be our next guest designer and hop along with us next month!
