Hydrangea Hill Suite - Ink Stamp Share
Hello and welcome to another Ink Stamp Share Blog Hop - the last one for 2020! The theme for our hop is to use something new from the Spring/Summer catalogue or the Sale-A-Bration brochure. I will be using a stamp and die bundle called Hydrangea Haven for my project.
If you are joining our hop with me or have jumped over from Donna, welcome we have lots of ideas to share this month.
I decided to use a stamp a stamp and die bundle called Hydrangea Haven. I have a bit of a thing for Hydrangeas - one of the very first stamps I bought over 30 years ago featured a Hydrangea (I still have it)!
This lovely bundle is part of the Hydrangea Hill Suite and it was at the very top of my wish list for my pre-order! There are so many stunning items in this suite that I know I will be using a lot over the coming months. Please note that these are not available to order until the 5th January - not too long to wait!
Here is my project:
Everyone needs thank you cards at this time of the year don't they? This one will be going to a friend who put together a little hamper for me that contained all my favourite things which was such a lovely surprise.
The Colours I used:
You will need:
21 cm x 14.5 cm ww thick - scored at 10.5 cm
10 cm x 14 cm ww thick
Www thick to stamp the flower on
1 cm strip of ww thick for the sentiment
The background:
I used another new item from the Spring/Summer Catalogue that can be found tucked away in the corner of page 70 - blending brushes. Easy to miss amongst the excitement of all the new goodies but I was very excited to see these I can tell you!
I used one of the brushes with some Seaside Spray ink to gently add some colour around the edge of the ww 10 x 14 cm panel.
Top Tip
I used a silicone mat under my project. Sweep the brush gently over the ink pad to pick up some colour. Then, start off the card using a swirling motion and move towards the edge of the card until you have the depth of colour you want.
The stamping:
Stamp the flower using Memento ink and cut out with the coordinating die. I used Old Olive to add colour to the leaves.
To add colour to the flower you will need to use the 'filler' stamp. Believe me, I was very excited when I discovered that this little image fit perfectly inside the flower! I started with Highland Heather (stamped off) and stamped three times around the flower. I then used Seaside Spray again stamping three times around the flower but I started in a slightly different position.
Hopefully you can see what I mean on the image below. Please note that this was my first play at adding colour to the flower and I used Seaside Spray first topped off with Highland Heather but I did not like the result!!
You can see below the different colour tones you can achieve; the flower on the right is the one I used for my project. I am looking forward to experimenting with different colours and I may even add some pink to the mix next time!
The sentiment:
I stamped this tiny sentiment onto the 1 cm strip of card using Memento ink. I then trimmed and flagged one end.
To assemble:
Adhere the background to the card base using dimensionals. I also used dimensionals to adhere the flower and the sentiment. I added a tiny bow using some of my favourite ribbon, adhering with a mini glue dot.
The inside/envelope:
I stamped the flower on the inside and the front of the envelope, adding colour to the images as above.
The completed project:
I know my friend will love this card - she is a clean and simple girl like me!!
Next up is the fabulous Jill Chapman - I can't wait to see which new items she has chosen to use! If you get lost along the way, a list of hoppers can be found at the end of this post.
Details of the items I used for this project can be found below. Items that are available from the 5th of January are shown above the showcase. If you have not got a copy of the Spring/Summer or Sale-A-Bration brochures let me know and I will pop one in the post for you.
Here's hoping 2021 is an improvement on this year! Stay safe and well wherever you are in the World and have a crafty New Year!
Crafty hugs,
Susan xx
