Stampin' Up! Stampers by the Dozen 07/18
Hello, and welcome to another Stampers by the Dozen Blog Hop. If you have joined us from Karie or are starting with me, welcome - I hope you enjoy hopping along with us.
This month our theme is a card re do challenge and was chosen by Anastasia. I really struggled with one; I have been an avid papercrafter for over 25 years and I can't remember what my first card looked like. However, this challenge did make me look at my blog and my first posts from 2015. I chose a post from November 2015 using a favourite stamp set of mine called Lighthearted Leaves which is now sadly retired. You can see details of my original project here. I'm almost embarrased to bring your attention to this project. I confess I was never quite happy with it however, I am deighted to have the opportunity to re do it!
I decided to use the lovely leaf skeleton stamp and framelit from a bundle called Rooted In Nature (= 10% saving) for my project as well as supplies available in the current Annual Catalogue.
I used the fabulous new In Color 2018 - 2020 Emboss Powders. Mine arrived the other day and this was the first time I used them. They come in this tube that has a fab lid - am I the only person who gets excited by packaging I wonder?
I started with the most obvious choice for leaves - Call Me Clover!
As I had decided to use the Tinted Faceted Buttons I also stamped a couple of leaves in Grapefruit Grove and Lovely Lipstick. I cut two leaves just in case one slips when die cutting.
My card was cut from A4 Thick Whisper White (14.5 x 10.5 cm) and I used a base of the same card mounted on Dimensionals that measured 14 x 10 cm.
I used my favourite Pearlised Doilies and some silver metalic thread to create a background.
Fortunately for me, both leaves turned out perfectly so I decided to change my design slighlty and use both of them!
These lovely faceted buttons come in two different sizes and I decided I would use two small and on large one.
Top Tip
I pressed each button onto my role of glue dots to 'pick up' the glue and then placed them onto my card - much easier this way!
My original card had a wonderful sentiment by Emily Bronte but there is also a great sentiment with this stamp set.
I stamped a border of leaves on the inside of the card and on the envelope too. I used the large and the small leaf stamp.
Here is the completed card and envelope.
'But wait' I hear you say. What about the other leaves? Of course I was not going to waste them so I made up another two cards! As ever, I can't decide which I like best!
Thanks for hopping along with us again, next up is Tricia. Don't forget to leave a comment below (we like that). Thanks again to Anastasia for the challenge - I enjoyed it and hope you think I have improved on my earlier design?
If you get lost along the way you can find a list of all participants in the hop below along with details of the products I used for this project.
Happy crafting.
